Just wondering the brown marks on the gold is that tarnish? Would it be possible to remove it?

Since you don't want to damage the brushed finish on a nice example, my vote would be for a solvent (like jewelry cleaner, which is mostly ammonia) on a cotton swab, gently applied and removed with care taken not to float the debris into the bezel area. That's me, it's likely that others have less primitive suggestions.

Thanks, I haven't bought it. I am thinking of it as it's a good price, do you think it is possible to compellty remove all the brown marks not damaging the piece?

Any competent jeweler can polish that out and then "rebrush" it.

Honestly, I'd probably polish and re-brush as MonBK suggested BECAUSE lifting off the bezel to apply solvent under the rim has a greater chance of injuring the bezel. The thing with oxidation on gold, like this, it usually wears away when you wear the watch, just from touching it with your fingers or contact with your clothing. Patina on gold is harder to keep than to remove.

If you are talking about having the watch buffed, I would strongly advise against it.

Unfortunately I cannot find the "before" picture.
But this Constellation had a much darker tarnish on it.

I used semichrome to polish it up.
Make sure to use Viva paper towels, they have the best consistency, and no loose threads like with a typical cloth.
Apply the semichrome to the paper towel, not the watch.
Rub the paper towel together and work the semichrome into the paper towel.
Then, go ahead and wipe the watch with the paper towel.

If you put the semichrome straight on the watch, or you don't work it in to the cloth you will get too much paste on it and it will get in the cracks and crevices. And it is a booger to get it off.

Again, based on 30 years experience, use Viva paper towels only.

You can buy any of these jewelry cleaning cloths and it works wonder in removing tarnish on gold or silver jewelry. These jewelry cleaning cloths have polishing compound impregnated in and a few rubbing on gold or silver pieces will remove the tarnish and bring the shine right back. I have one at home and I use it to remove tarnish on gold watch cases.

if you watch has been pressure tested...

a bit of toothpaste diluted with water and an old soft toothbrush will do the trick without any noticeable loss of the current finish.

paying to pressure proof/reseal is going to be cheaper and better than getting someone refinishing it to get rid of the oxidation.

i wish i had kept mine (the oxidation). they don't come back unless left untouched for a long time.

I would not recommend a toothbrush with toothpaste on any gold watch under any circumstances.

It's pretty easy to clean off with a little metal polish. Be very gentle and do it by hand and you will be ok.
