Yes I sure need to seek counseling about over doing it with things. That was only part what you see in that picture...:)

Nothing to really understand, either you want to own it or you could care less about it. Just like high end watches too when my Apple Phone give me just as accurate or better time...

Soo true and agree with the above. I have a friend who collects championship belts, think mma and boxing belts.

Nice. I'm a camera geek too... maybe that's my intuition was to ask about it (unknowingly)

Cameras are even a bigger down fall for me then luggage and watches. Leica, Hasselblad, Nikon, and Canon with the gear all at the top end....:)

You’ve obviously got the eye.

I have the smaller Wotancraft Scout for iPad + body and 2 or 3 lenses or so.

And one of the post retirement side hustles is going to be photography so I picked up a Topas Business Multiwheel for the current job (it fits in the overhead of regional jets) and with the laptop and folio inserts removed works great for camera gear with the Peak Design camera cubes.

Seems like the Topas line is somewhat analogous to the 5 digit SS Rolex lineup. Prices used seem to be creeping upwards on used ones.

And Breguet - damn, dude!

So I wanted to buy a simple Rimowa luggage belt and they are 200 to 300 Euro!!!!! How does a single piece of cloth cost nearly 50% of some Rimowa suitcases?
https://www.rimowa.com/de/de/kofferguertel/
Anyone have any belt recommendations?

Go on Amazon and buy a cheap belt. After all, no one will judge you based on a luggage belt.

Between wife and I, we have 3 pieces. One carryon silver metal and two larger size black polyurethane (don’t know material off top of my head).

When you buy a $1500.00 dollar piece of luggage you do not want a amazon belt on it or at least I did not..

I usually restrict myself to carry on only (changing flights, less to drag around, etc.) and find it amusing the Rimowa can't figure out to make a carry on sized rolling cases that conform to American Airlines size restrictions (22x14x9). As for durability, I worked with a gentleman a couple of years ago and once his case finally gave up, and we were getting back from Africa to Europe, there was absolutely no way to secure the content of the case, just busted sheet metal (great for recycling). My Tumi did fine after a similar end of life event and looks so much more non descript. But I do admire the success LVHM has with the brand.

Good points. I always thought Rimowa was the Rolex of luggage. I guess it is the Patek.

What do you need the belt for?

They're ugly and honestly over priced. A Rimowa won't pop open just like that.

The wheels. It’s awesome how no crap gets wrapped up in the wheels and how easy it is to push these cases around.

Incoming... Rimowa luggage

They’re awesome bags.

I use mine all the time and the local Rimowa store knows me well as every month I drop off a few bags and they reinstate them back to great condition.

And the wheels are just such a breeze to push through long airports.

And finally, it protects your stuff, even though the bags get knocked around more than other bags at airports (i believe baggage handlers like to see how much Rimowas can handle...)

There’s really nothing like it.

I’ve seen some absolutely terrible looking ones come through on baggage carousels. Bent metal and really gnarled up edges.

I think I’m generally quite hard on my stuff - so it needs to be robust enough to cope.

It’s a timely topic actually as one of our big cases is on its last legs - both figuratively and literally speaking. I do like the idea of a suitcase that will last a lifetime but just not convinced it will come in the form of a Rimowa. Even if I am a big fan of German manufacturing.

I’ve tried pretty much every brand before Rimowa and everything just breaks after 1-2 months of intensive travel/airport baggage handling.

Rimowa is really something else, different league. A couple years ago I switched to Rimowa and replaced all my bags with Rimowa now. If it breaks (because airport baggage handlers), it still works and you take it into any Rimowa store in the world and they fix it for you.

Cannot compare. Samsonites fall apart during intensive travel. Rimowas survive, even if damaged.

And the wheels...

I’ve traveled quite extensively, been trough a couple of samsonites and a couple of el-cheapo suitcases. My RIMOWA luggage (Aluminium) are the only ones that have survived more than a few years. I have 3 aluminums, and they are probably going to be around as long as me. My wife’s Plastic rimowa is now dead after our last trip to Florida in September. A corner of it cracked. She bought hers same year I bought my first aluminum rimowa, 2011. She wanted the plastic version as she didn’t want to look like a drug-lord.... Well, she’s getting an aluminum next wether she likes it or not!

Rimowa fixes it for free. I have mainly plastic Rimowas as they are lighter so they don’t take up significant portion of baggage allowance.

Also, i put a medium in a large (upside down) so that upon arrival i have extra bag space. You can only do that with the plastic Rimowas.

Soo glad to see these photos. Good to know I’m not the only one who collects and use them extensively.

The Cabin size, Topas now “Original” under LVMH, doesn’t give me issue when flying on a domestic leg.

Congrats on the new Rimowa's. Hope you like yours as much as I like mine.

What's with the white Rimowa sticker on the front of the cases? Never seen those and honestly I would remove them if it was me because to me it looks like something they would stick on counterfeit stuff.

Pretty sure those stickers came with the booklet that contains the luggage tag and etc. when you buy them. Same sticker came with my Cabin S, LVMH version, that I got earlier this year also.

Interesting! Never actually looked in that packet that closely. IMHO I think they cheapen the look of the case so I would not put them on....but that's just me. Why buy the most expensive version of the cases they make and then stick a sticker like that to them?

Here’s what I had last time I took a picture of them in the spare room. Have since added a clear Off-White Cabin case (more of an investment since I was able to get my hands on one), an Original Cabin Plus size and bought my SO an Essential Cabin S in green. Funny thing was when I bought the Essential Cabin S and brought it home I got asked if I was sure it was a "real" Rimowa case since it was so flimsy. I had to laugh since clearly someone got used to using my Original cases.

I all the pieces of Rimowa I have, this is the only one I put stickers on and no others will have. This was a keepsake I bought at the Dubai Mall in Dubai while out watch shopping one day. I always wanted this particular one and now here it sets.. I did get a few nice comments about it at the Amsterdam Airport transiting back how to the States from Dubai..
