Lost a bet

Many years ago I made a bet with my daughter that this would never happen, absolutely impossible. Time to pay up!

I’m much more likely to run marathons now that they’re under 2 hours

An amazing accomplishment. I bet he'll do it in a real race soon. Doesn't look like he was wearing a Rolex.

It’s not an official time so you don’t have to cough up yet.

I've heard that Kipchoge had to run at the speed of 17sec/100m constantly for the whole marathon course.

Many people cannot even run one short 100m in 17sec.

I tried to run that pace, I cannot hold it longer than a few minutes, it is insane.

I like going slow for hours and hours on a trail, then have beer afterwards

I find the endurance of your runs equally impressive. This record is more proof he’s a genetic specimen than anything. Most people’s heart would explode!

It's high time we put these marathoners to use they way they were intended.

I know it wasn’t an “official race” but to see how bonkers this is, next time you are on/near a treadmill put the speed on 13mph and try doing that. And then realize that is slightly slower than he ran for 2hrs.

I was a respectable high school runner and am sad to admit he outpaced my personal best. which was 1600 meters (1 mile = 1609 meters) in 4 minutes 38 seconds

Breaking 2 hours is bananas, and also I am sick of "authorities" invalidating records. running all downhill or with the wind is one thing, but pacers? Why does an "official" record need to occur within the context of a competitive race?
