FS: Rolex Day-Date, Ref. 18238, Complete from 1991 with Tapestry Dial

This piece needs no introduction. Even a non-watch enthusiast can spot this watch from across a room and instantly recognize it as a Rolex. This one comes from my personal collection. I spent about a year looking for the perfect Day-Date. Like anyone researching a Day-Date, you know condition is the most important. Stretch in bracelets is present on every Day-Date available. It's just a matter of how much stretch.

This one spent it's life while in my possession in a safe. Hence the sale. From the looks of it, it spent its whole life prior to me in the safe. The bracelet has little to no stretch, and has 20 links from my count, and 5 screws. I did look extensively for a perfect watch and found this one at HQ Milton a couple years ago. They were also surprised by the condition of the lugs and bracelet.

For those of you who think it is too blingy, too gold, too much... Try it on a leather strap. I'll include this high end supple strap so you can dress it down if needed.

The tapestry dial is very rare on these Day-Dates, especially the double quickset versions. I like it because it is the only dial besides the onyx and other precious stone dials, that loses the so called train tracks around the outside of the dial. It's a take on the most common champagne dial, but it also has a unique shine to it, and fluctuates between a silver and champagne dial in sunlight.

This watch is complete. Comes with a inner and outer box, booklet, warranty papers dated July 26st, 1991. This is an E serial, which dates to 1990. This is the most perfect example of a day-date that I've ever seen. Enjoy!

Asking $17,750 + label.

On Chrono24, the closest watch I found was more than $1k more and appears to be in worse shape.

Wire only. No trades. Lots of references.
