Blancpain Bathyscaphe

Hey guys, I just wanted to show off a new piece. It's the ceramic Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Chrono (mouthful?).

I was originally looking at the Omega DSOM but I decided this one was a little more special/rare, and I was worried that Omega will keep coming out with new versions of the "side of moon" series and maybe I'd have buyer's remorse.

This guy has a great in-house movement, power reserve, flyback chrono, and water resistance. And, like the Omega, it's all ceramic (I'm excited to have a watch that won't develop so many swirlies like my others).

So far the timekeeping has been spot-on, and it wears comfortably because of the lighter weight compared to SS. I couldn't be happier!

And yes, it's big--a little too big for my wrist I think (this is 43mm, the DSOM is 44.25), however my wife says it looks fine and she's the boss of me!

PS: I purchased from DavidSW, and he was superb--just like the forums told me. Quick shipping, low price, everything is in order.

That's a great way to scratch the ceramic itch! Beautiful!

Very nice! Congratulations!

I have the SS version and starting to get a little bored, perhaps I should have tried the ceramic. :)

Thanks guys.
Yes, I think (at least IMO) the ceramic really seals the deal. But again, I have other SS finished watches already in the collection, so this is a nice change of pace and I'm sure one day I'll be up to rotating. Unfortunately, findings straps in 23mm (or squishing 24mm on) is going to be a bear!

Gorgeous watch. As an owner of the DSOTM, I also don't like all the new editions and that Bathyscape is special. Enjoy.

Agreed - no 'stick & slip' factor
