Another, What do you think? Post

I won't ask this on a Panerai board, as they would think I were nuts.
BUT, I love Breguets and am thinking, just thinking, of selling the 232 and 249 ( I know) and putting the $$ towards a Breguet.
I like the 5140 and the 5157 in yellow gold.
Leaning towards the 5140 with the offset seconds hand & display back.

Opinions welcome. Sorry no pics.

is it this?

if so... it's okay. don't feel strongly about it one way or the other, but it is a clean classic look.

Go for what you love. I did the same sort of adjustment for my AP and I'm not regretting it one bit.

I like your thinking John. Just MHO, but you have loved the Panerai, and I think you would wear something like that in rotation so why not. The only question is resell if and when you decide to do that.

Ooohhhh - I am the wrong person to ask.... I am gung-ho about Breguets... When a simple XXI became available, I was looking for a bodily organ to sell, but messed most of them up in college.... Liver, kidneys and lungs are SHOT

But this is my baby, in white gold. EVERYTHING in white gold, the dial (and the guilloche is beautiful), the rotor, shaped like a seashell. Classic blue Breguet hands, a crisp flyback chrono.... I really don't NEED anything else, but will continue buying watches because I am a nut (or at least my wife tells me that).

Mosco
That is a lovely looking Breguet.

Sorry John, but I can't comment on either brand as I don't know anywhere near enough to make a comment. But go with what you feel and good luck.

Well, I think if you hold onto the 249 for a couple years, it'll come back up in value. Think it is a very bad time to sell that one....

Thank You!

I posted this on another thread, but I think it is also appropriate here:

"BREGUET'S CELEBRATED PATRONS:

The House of Breguet was privileged to create timepieces for the diplomatic, scientific, military and financial elite.

Among its clients, Queen Marie-Antoinette, Napoleon Bonaparte, Talleyrand, the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, Caroline Murat, Tsar Alexander I of Russia, Queen Victoria, Sir Winston Churchill and Arthur Rubinstein who put their confidence in the taste and artistry of Breguet.

BREGUET IN LITERATURE:

The number of references to Breguet watches in French and foreign literature is an indication of the remarkable reputation enjoyed by both the firm and its founder. Breguet is now so deeply rooted in European culture that the name is virtually a sine qua non of any depiction of the aristocracy, the bourgeoisie or, quite simply, a life of luxury and elegance.

Stendhal, Mérimée, Pushkin, Balzac, Alexandre Dumas, Thackeray and Victor Hugo are only some of the writers who have made reference to Breguet in their works, followed closer to our own day by Kuprin, Max Jacob and Patrick O'Brian." (from their site)

Don't forget, each original owner's name is posted in the same registry as those listed by Mosco

That watch is a beauty. I love Breguet watches. They are very well made and have great history to them. Someday I would like to go to where they are manufactured and get a tour if that is allowed. I don't think you can go wrong with the brand.

Thanks! I never thought I could love an inanimate object - but my two Breguets shattered that notion!

Why not wear both of them together, well one on each wrist? Hayek does this daily
( actually more that two, but he has better access than the rest of us)
