Ceramic Daytona

I have other ceramic Rolex in my collection that I could care less for a ceramic Daytona. My SS Daytona feels more special.
Think about it. Every Uncle and Aunt on the market is doing a ceramic bezel watch now. And every watch Rolex makes with a bezel is and will be ceramic. I think I will leave it here for you to form your own picture.

Judging by what I've heard from AD's and other watch enthusiasts, there isn't exactly a "list" you can get on. They will only sell it to people who buy many watches first. So if you only want the daytona, you would have to buy watches you don't like first.

I wish people would stop belly aching over the price of the ceramic Daytona on the grey market.Thats the market value whether you like it or not and it’s only going one way and that’s up.They are seriously under priced anyway.
If you don’t like it don’t buy it’s that simple.
If you have the money buy grey and enjoy and dont look back, better than arse licking ad’s and buying multiple watches or jewellery you don’t want to maybe get a Daytona if you’re lucky.
No thanks buy grey and buy now,you get it immediately and enjoy, life too short to wait and it’s one watch that isn’t going to lose value.

Only going up??? That's my personal biggest indicator of a market correction.

Curious but why is it undervalued? What is your opinion on the true value of a stainless ceramic Daytona?

I've had both a 116519 and 116509 as I couldn't stomach paying more for steel than WG on both occasions. When I did spend strong money on a steel sports chrono it was an AP. IMHO, 116509 was on a par with the 26331 but both bested the 116500. I do like the black 116500 and if the prices ever flip back the other way I would look to get one.

Prices are softening
A black dial is now 18kdollars

The steel 116520 will follow. Steel is always cheaper than the 500 so price will reduce.

Most people cannot argue with buying something for £11k and knowing it is worth £20k immediately after. They may not sell it, but the knowing that it's there if they want it is important for a lot of people

Why is any watch worth what it's worth? MSRP or otherwise? There is no logic in this foolish hobby, or passion, of getting watches. Most who aren't into watches would say paying $12,400 for a Daytona from an AD is foolish. And they're not wrong. There is an intangible aspect to watches. I cannot explain logically why I love watches and have so many.

What I can say after getting the 116500 black dial at MSRP from my AD is that if my only way of ever getting one was through a gray at twice the cost, I would not hesitate to have it on my wrist tomorrow. I have had mine for a couple of months now and love it more every day. Don't ask me to explain why, it's not logical to me.

Not a chrono fan but if I was I'd rather be wearing the VC especially for that kind of (close) money. (not mine) but the overseas 4500v is on the radar.

Yup. I like (love) my Gen 2 VC far more than my ceramic Daytona. For me, it’s a nicer watch in every way.

Is this new or used? Also, is it from a power seller or an individual? This to me sounds about right for a used piece sold by a private party.

I would think a lot of the 20k+ pieces are BNIB grey where you'll get your name on the paperwork.

There is a white one for sale now for 18K, used.

That's a beauty! And that's the way to put a date on a chrono, not at 4 o'clock!

It maybe that the 116500 is slightly reducing as it’s well over mrsp however that does not mean that the 116520 will follow as the 116520 is discontinued which is always a factor in value and for whatever reasons it makes a difference to the value of that series and will not necessarily soften.

Grey market prices always make me consider what else I could buy at that price. It's a tough sell. The stainless Daytona is a fair price retail. Not so much above.

Agree! So many great chronos ruined by having the date at 4 o'clock IMO...same reason I wouldn't consider a ROC (no offense to any owners, just my personal preference.)

I bought my first Daytona before all the hype around ten years ago.
I walked into my local dealer looking for a new ceramic GMT , they never had any in stock that day but he said they had both black and white dial Daytonas if id like to have a look.
I knew very little about Rolex back then but even then he said that it was rare for them to be in stock.
I now own both ceramic steel , the white Gold Oysterflex and the Green dial Yellow gold versions . For me the Daytona is the most comfortable and best fit of all the Rolex range , would pay twice the retail price for one though ? I don't think I would but I still don't think that anyone buying to wear and keep long term will ever lose money on one
