No more gator or croc straps

Just received a letter from my AD regarding Patek gator or croc straps. Beginning in 2020 they won’t be allowed in California. Patek is working on an alternative strap but you won’t be able to order them delivered to California and the pieces in the display case and the AD’s safe won’t have them on the watch. It’s a new law on the books going into effect January 1st.

I would not sweat it until they ban the watches there unless you can be cited for wearing a reptile strap you already have after Jan 1.

I almost thought this was a spoof, but sure enough there is California law taking effect 1/1/2020. Short Camille Fournet (sic).

I have four alligator belts. Yeah, I know, weird. But will they be confiscated?

It’s the law. I’m not kidding. The great state of California. You can shoot heroin in the subway stations with impunity. So it’s not all bad.

Typical of the commies in CA ... Big Brother at its finest.

Completely and utterly ludicrous, but not surprising.

You also forgot free shopping bags with purchases and plastic food take out boxes. Paper food take boxes get as soggy as wet newspaper.

It's not a new law. The law was passed back in the 70s, but its implementation failed to get "delayed" again this year.

Back when the law was originally passed, the American Alligator was headed toward extinction. New regulations from the Endangered Species Act helped to re-populate the species to the point where it was de-listed from the endangered species list in the late 80s. The alligator is a great example of how regulation worked to rehabilitate and create a sustainable industry, and I believe the original CA law from the 70s was in earnest trying to conserve an endangered species.

The only ones to blame for the situation CA is in now are our friends at PeTA who launched a campaign of misinformation and scare tactics that ultimately pressured lawmakers into letting the law go into full effect next year.

Ridiculous. I received same letter from my AD Saturday and coincidentally received my new Croc strap from Camille Fournet this afternoon. I suppose friends and family in other states will be receiving shipments next year, .

Gators are almost as plentiful as roaches in some parts of the South!

Ridiculous liberal state. First started with paper straws and now no croc straps. Is there an article or link to this ban?
