Nice review! These really are special pieces, you're so lucky you got one! The only thing I wish on this watch was that it was 41mm like the regular BB rather than 43mm. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if it were.

Thanks, everyone!
I really appreciate you taking the time to share your positive comments.

What I should have also mentioned in my OP is that this is not a limited edition and Tudor / Bucherer may have plans to release a certain amount each year. Unfortunately there's no published info regarding quantities or frequency. I honestly would be surprised if even the Bucherer branches themselves know this in detail. In any event, if you or a friend are planning a trip to AT/CH/DE/DK/FR you could certainly try contacting them. Please keep in mind that even "locals" are on a waiting list. The 5B is certainly in demand and it could very well be that with this write-up, I am not helping to placate said demand... ;-)

Maybe just the excuse you needed to visit the "old world" In any case, keep an eye on chrono24. I can imagine for the first few months any that pop up on such sites will have exaggerated prices but hopefully that will calm down. Best of luck to you (and the others)

Nothing obsolete about your BB Blue - great colors on that reference too I will be sharing pics as the patina develops

Nice watch, nice pics!

But they have worn out the "Black Bay" name, time to try something new.

Absolutely stunning images and a wonderful, description-filled write up to match! Had me holding onto my coffee without taking a sip- I think the last time I did that was during our wedding ceremony....

I hope you don't mind me asking?

The last three photographs "reset".

The watch is shown in a fizzing, and what I assume, is water?
Have you added any substance to achieve that, "back to new" look?

Many thanks in advance.

"Mmmm ...ancient Chinese secret..."

Nah, - Soda water & lemon juice. But please be advised this is a very mild form of treatment and won't work all that well (if at all) on a fully oxidized case... . Once we get to that point, we'll have to see... someone mentioned a mix of salt & vinegar but man... that's gotta hurt. Both the case AND our nostrils...

Thanks for letting me in on the secret

I will be gentle, if need be, with the treatment

There's one for sale at the bargain price of 60 grand. Wow, they're really appreciating quickly!

Beautiful watch. I have never been much of a Tudor fan but perhaps it is time to reconsider that. And I have to agree the picture with the bubbles is quite interesting.

Heck, even in HKDs it's a bit lofty... !!!

For Tudor Thursday (assuming that's a thing... well, 3.5K posts on IG suggest it is... )

Yes agreed. I'm amazed I got one so relatively quickly. A 2nd one would be pretty much impossible as there are still many waiting for one. The reference is not limited but the production will be relatively low as far as I could tell.

Cracking photo once again.....

Just wish mine would come out like that.......

I think whoever secured one was very fortunate indeed.

A huge "thank you" once again to "my" Bucherer

Great write up thank you for your work. How do you reset the patina by the way? Like what are you soaking it in to get rid of the patina?

Icon4 !!!attention!!!

The lug width of the BBBs is 23mm! My apologies for this major screwup I will try to get a Mod to change this asap!

~~~
"2. The supplied fabric strap is indeed 22mm and fits perfectly. However... it's very soft and will compress in certain positions (blame gravity) so some of the photographs may mislead you into thinking it's not the correct width... but rest assured, it is!"
...
Tudor has also graciously provided a handsome leather strap, also sporting matching bronze HW. While the HW on the leather strap may appear different than the fabric strap's (which currently matches the case's patina perfectly), I haven't used it and it's been properly stored. Thus no oxidation is evident but I am optimistic that it's the very same CuAl alloy. Size-wise, we're looking at 70x130 (22mm, non-tapered).
I wouldn't be suprised if by reason of the great enthusiasm and demand for this watch, Tudor does not decide to make it a main stream watch in their range for Basel 2018.
I thought I had measured mine incorrectly. I measured it quite a few times before ordering a custom strap.
Phew, glad my measurements were correct......
