AR Coating
I was at my AD recently and I was told by the watch technician that since my watch (36mm no date), doesn’t have a cyclops it has AR on both sides. Does anyone now if this true or have heard of it before?

The only AR coating that Rolex uses is underneath the cyclops. So your AD is incorrect.

It sounds like he has confused information he has been given. Rolex are now fitting anti reflective crystals to the Daytona, it is possible they may begin fitting them to other non date models but this has not been suggested yet (this is where the AD confusion may have come in to play)
The way to tell if your glass has AR coating on the underside is the Laser etched crown at 6 o'clock has a second circle inside the first circle of the crown (where the S would be on a service replacement glass). AR coating on top and bottom is indicated by a horizontal line inside the second circle of the laser etched crown. This information is from a Rolex technical document dated 08/2017 |

Interesting. Thanks for the info.
Does that crystal have AR on the bottom only? |

I'm afraid I can't answer that, I would need to physically see the crystal to check which etching it has and unfortunately I don't have a daytona in right now right now. I can let you know next time I have one.

We sure are!
I did a crystal replacement on a 116505 last week but I think the one we had in stock was the old type, hence my confusion |

And this is a perfect example of how ADs end up telling stories that may be based partly in truth. There is no announcement to watchmakers to let us know about updates (big or small). Sometimes we hear in advance and it takes over a year for us to see the change and other times we hear nothing until one day we find out it's been modified for two years
