Very polite way to ask a question.

I briefly got to handle one in person. Its Big..... BIG... too big for me I think... almost like an oversized rappers watch. The blue dial was nice, the black dial was difficult to read the numbers.... maybe it would grow on me... not sure.. but as of now I prefer the Original DD in Platinum, any other comments? would love to hear other opinions.

I like the size, but not the proportion of the bezel. I view the day date II as a "transitional" piece and I hope Rolex will continue to improve on the dial/bezel proportion

Other than the precious metal its basically the same as most of todays Rolex lineup. As all todays Rolex are based on the cal 3135 except the chronographs add the day feature it becomes a cal 3155 that in all the DD.Add a second time zone complication it becomes a 3185/6/7,take away the date complication it becomes a cal 3130.So all the Rolex oyster line up should perform very much the same.As the only difference is the style of case whether SS,TT or precious metal or with diamonds and the different price.

here is a picture of mine... pretty dinged up but i wear it every day. it was one of the first ones in the US and one of the first ones from the run of 41mm DDII's... you'll notice it has the same numerals from the 36MM DD that are not available any more on the 41MM.. it was a limited short run that Rolex made with numerals leftover from 36MM production... i think it's the most elegant look for this watch. i probably would not have purchased the blue on blue or black on black dials...
