Great looking watch, its timeless. I just bought an Explorer 2 and I tried the Exp 1 on while I was in the store. Its really grew on me.

Congrats

Boadicea - I like your choice of watch. I've go the same but 3 years older, running the same accuracy as yours. I wear it in between wearing a Swiss Army, which lies on my wrist like no other watch I own. However, when I wear the Explorer - I got one problem, I can't stop staring at it! The build of this watch is phenomenal. Looking forward to any updates from you.

WOOHOO!! My wife told me over the weekend that I can keep this if I really want to! What a lady! It now officially joins my DJ+diamond dial and the new SS Daytona as part of my collection!

I can't honestly say that I "need" 3 watches but I have to say that the Explorer makes a REALLY good daily watch! I find that My DJ has a bit too much bling (although the date is really useful) and the Daytona is a little too new and a lot more expensive to risk wrecking with day to day activities.

I'm now wearing the explorer every day, the Daytona on weekends and occasions, and the DJ is set aside as a formal/suit watch (probably once a month or so for about 3-5 hours at a time).

note: I'm sure a "normal" DJ would also make a great daily watch but the combination of diamond dial, WG bezel, and Jubilee bracelet on mine makes it a bit of bling fest (although beautiful to behold!).

Yes it is! I still find that I have the itch for Sub's but something seems to distract me every time I see one. There was both the green and black SubC in the window when I got my Daytona and I must say that I didnt even bother looking at them (Daytona all the way!).

On the other hand, I had a REALLY good look at the new 39mm explorer on Sunday and while the size change is not as big as I thought it would be, I am not impressed at all! Something feels like it has been lost along the way.

I really like the new bracelet and feel that they have taken it in the right direction there as the old bracelet feels like a toy after handling my Daytona. On the downside, the hands looks too small to me and the fat 3/6/9 markers just looks silly. Perhaps it is the lack of paint on them? I'm not sure. Perhaps it will grow on me over time, but if not, I am happy that I have been able to grab (and hang on to) what is now the latest and last revision of the old Explorer 114270 (ie: V series).
