Helping a friend with grandfather's 3484 chronograph
A friend at work heard I was a watch nut and brought his grandfather's Rolex chronograph to a happy hour.
His grandfather few in WW2 as a bomber and changed the second hand to have lume, which is now gone. My friends daughters are going off to college, and he aske me if it is worth restoring and selling. Really I don't know, are these worth more as is, with the story or should he have it restored. It doesn't run, should he at least get it back in running condition? Any advice would be appreciated. |

First, post pictures so the experts can take a look. I am not one of them but that is the best way to get the ball rolling. One thing I can answer is that vintage collectors are interested in the vintage parts not restored or refurbished. Originality is king. That's all i have for you, good luck and I look forward to seeing some pictures as condition is also a major factor in value…

It was actually his fathers, not his grandfathers, and he is looking for pictures of his father wearing it in uniform. Such a great story.
