I agree with you.

The information on the internet today consists of a large amount of half truth and even fringe ideas packaged as facts or mainstream. Case in point. 92% of the tweets in the US come from 10% of Twitter users. In other words, through the help of social media a small yet vocal minority can create an illusion of a dominant majority.

Some of us, myself included are not happy about being turned into Pavlov's dogs and the constant screen time, checking , etc... is really creating dopamine addicts. But the fact that Rolex can be an heirloom quality watch is why I frequently offer folks the advice of not flipping their Rolex. The reality is the more we flip, the less meaning the Rolex has and the more it resembles an apple watch.

I dont see Rolex going anywhere anytime soon, but I know many, many folks that can easily afford a few Rolex watches and they opt for the Apple watch. I also think while Rolex has always been equated with quality robustness, their (intentional or not) linking their wagons to run away capitalism, being only available for oligarchs is not attractive. Their history is fading into the background, and most only see them as items to flip, status symbols, ways to flaunt wealth, $$$, and a place to park some dough. I mean to some degree, Rolex is coming with more and more baggage and who is really comfortable with the baggage these days? Not me.
Well put

unless the apple watch is about to replace rolex as a status symbol (its not), then there is no damage done to rolex by apple selling whatever they can sell in watches.

people buy rolexes as a status symbol (all members of this forum excluded) .. having an apple watch does not signal that you've arrived.

Short of WWIII, I don't see luxury watches like Rolex dying out anytime soon. Oh wait, then again a mechanical watch may be the only instrument able to tell time accurately post a nuclear apocalypse. Damn, this wait list problem will never go away.

The day that an Apple Watch can function without recharging will be when I consider it. Not a second before.

Until then a wind up or automatic wristwatch for me.
