Escrow services for buying watch from individual

I'm thinking of buying a watch from an individual on this forum that does not have much history of selling or buying on this forum.

Has anybody used an escrow service for a watch purchase that has held cash until you receive the watch and can then validate the authenticity?

Any other suggestions are welcome or do I just move on and not take the risk?

Paypal has some sort of buyer protection. It is costly and the seller is at a disadvantage however.

Check out the FS section > boutique sellers for a hassle and worry free experience. Pay a bit more, it’s worth it.

Too many great trusted sellers here that can source any watch for you. I’d move on

I try to avoid as much risk as I can.

Are you uncomfortable with the seller and situation? Time to move on.

Once you have doubts in you about the deal then it's a sign, don't proceed there are other more reputable sellers on the forum.

I agree.

If you need to be thinking about an escrow service then the transaction is already questionable.

Got it. I was hoping a service had popped up to address these concerns. Seems like it would be a valuable service to enable person to person selling with confidence that doesn’t require eBay or Chrono24 which from what i gathered on the forums aren’t perfect either.

Thanks all. Was really hoping something like this exists.

Run, don't walk, to a trusted seller. If you are posting here then you have read all the horror stories. Why would you buy from someone without MANY MANY public references? Don't go cheap

What is the best way for a private seller to sell a watch? Ebay and chrono both take 6-10%. How can a private seller get the best price for their watch?

Welcome to the forum

IMHO, your best bet is to contact a trusted seller to see what they’ll offer you. You’ll take a haircut on the price, but it’s hassle free and the funds are guaranteed.

If you decide to go it alone,C24 is probably your best bet.

A private seller is very unlikely to get the same price as a grey dealer or bricks and mortar store.

Ebay authentication service will give you a level of protection; buyer can't call fake or say they received an empty box. Ebay offers discounted final value fees from time to time, wait for one of those offers
