Incoming First Purchase Ever
Okay so I joined up here in August and really started to love the community as well as appreciating something finely crafted like a watch. Didn't have a collection at all until yesterday and just wanted to share how sweet this already feels. So my dad and I were talking (he wears a 20 year old sub my mom got him for an anniversary) and we figured why not go look at our AD just because we truly never had before. I live in NJ and there are only a handful of ADs but one of them happens to be about 30 minutes away so we headed over. He and I both fully expected the Rolex cases to be empty (which they were save for one Ladies Datejust) but we just wanted to go pop in and talk anyway. We got there, gave our information to a nice saleswoman who was really helpful, not condescending, and also not pushy at all. I've had the idea of a 36mm Datejust with a blue dial on oyster for a while and she did note this for me but said it would probably be a few months. But while I was there I really was caught by the Black Bay 36 with a silver dial. She took it out of the case and after a few minutes appreciating it I just couldn't leave without it. It never really struck me until that moment the fine work that goes into a quality timepiece and I think I felt the feeling I read about on this forum so many times. These are just fine timepieces and truly wonderful to own. What really blows my mind is how small of a purchase this was in comparison to some other pieces out there and still how excited it made me feel to appreciate the watch. I can only imagine what a Daytona or Day-date owner feels when they get that call and head home with a bag from the AD. Looking forward to that one day in the hopefully decades long stretch of collecting I have in the future. Thanks for listening and cheers!

Thanks so much! It seems I can sense that but oh well, can't take the money with you. Might as well enjoy it!

Congrats OP! I think the BB36 lineup is wonderful and amazing value. Your silver dial and the blue dial are lookers. A perfect blend between sport and smart-casual ... 100m WR, dresses up or down, looks good on bracelet or strap. If an Explorer and SS Datejust had a kid, this would be the end result. Enjoy!

Huge congrats, enjoy wearing it.
Fwiw it doesn’t matter to me if I buy an expensive watch or not. Any new watch always gives me the same happy feeling. Money is quickly forgotten, wearing a nice watch is a daily returning pleasure
