Rolex 6263 Service Recommendations in the UK

Hello all

I need to get my 1974 6263 serviced as it’s beginning to lose power reserve more quickly than it used too after being manually wound. I’m considering 3 options and would appreciate any feedback / commentary.

Important to note the watch is 100% original to its 1974 release spec with zero replacement or service parts and of course I wish to keep it that way. So original pushers/bezel/crystal etc

Only other requirement is ideally a UK based company.

So in terms of service :

1.Rolex authorised dealer and if so who ?

2. Independent service company like Russell Tallerman ?

3. Rolex Atelier. I previously owned another 6263 which I acquired that had been restored by Atelier (prior to my ownership) and I really appreciated the service restoration documentation (and wooden box) from Rolex it came with. I imagine very expensive but does anyone know how expensive ?

Any thoughts on the relative merits of option 1,2 or 3 ?

Many thanks

D

I use Steve Hale Restoration Services (SHWR) for all my 707/727 requirements - Rolex send (sub contact) a lot of their ones to him too.

Forget 1 my opinion, you'll get a demoralising laundry list of recommended/needed stuff and they'll likely farm it out anyway !

I have used Watchguy.co.uk in the past, great service and you get lots of pictures of the watch in pieces.

He will tell you exactly what it "needs".

A friend of mine uses William Rice for his vintage watches and has been very happy.

I've had several vintage pieces serviced by William Rice. Being a smaller outfit you get to speak to the person actually doing the work, so less chance of confusion. He does great work. Steven Hale has an excellent reputation, but I've not yet used his services.
