This upsets me. It reminds me of what Porsche was doing with their gt cars. Total bs

The good news is that the bluesy is one heckuva runner up

Congratulations on the Skydweller

Congrats on 2 great watches. Hope you will enjoy both. At this point I would just enjoy them and go back to the ad to get a ss Daytona then you will be way ahead.

Were you even considering adding a Bluesy to the collection???

If you paid tax, you're even further in the hole. Personally I would have told the AD to stick it!
I wonder if that is also part of the play. Buyers potential profit is now minimized if the plan was to flip

OP: done deal, SD is a fantastic watch, enjoy!

That’s BS. I would have gone Grey instead. Sure, you’ll pay $4-5k over list, but you’re spending $18-19k and not $30k.

As it is, you like both so it seems to have worked out. Still, appalling business practice if you ask me.

Congrats on the SkyD for sure, and if you grow to accept or love the Bluesy, congrats on that too. It's unfortunate that ADs are adopting these practices. I actually had a manager tell me that they are doing this because they cannot charge the premium that these highly desired models are capturing on the grey market, and they need to capitalize off it some way. I have purchased a couple pieces from them and had been developing a solid relationship, and despite that, they had a Daytona C (White), but if I wanted it, I would need to buy a PM piece, and although I am on the "VIP" list for the SS Pepsi, it will be under the same conditions. Want a $10K watch, you'll have to make a $30+K purchase... "and for that reason, I'm out!"

Congrats on your Skydweller. Looks fantastic!! I hate seeing people get “shaked down”at an AD. Just so wrong.

That would have really pissed me off. Practically extortion! Forcing people to buy a second watch that they then will need to unload puts more in the wild and into the grey dealers don't you agree?

Two great watches...I would just enjoy them and forget all this gnashing of the teeth about AD's. Just my two cents.

this is precisely the idiotic and desperate behavior that allows AD's to get away with this unethical nonsense.

Such a frustrating process to buy a watch... On the flip side, you landed two sweet pieces! Congrats

Wow, that's ridiculous.

Look, I absolutely mean the OP no offense or derision but come on guys, this is nuts!

I don't give a Godamn whether he's happy with the watches or not: this transaction is unprofessional, immoral, possibly illegal and most of all completely unfair. Unfair to the purchaser and completely discriminatory to anyone wishing a SD but cannot afford, or has no use for an additional Rolex.

Sure. it could be flipped but that's easier said than done. (I've owned five Rolex watches and when I've tried to move them to upgrade, it was *almost* more work than it was worth.)

Sorry, but other than the Op getting his hearts desire, there is not a chance in hell I'd acquiesce to those terms.

I couldn't afford it for starters, but getting 'steamrolled' by a salesman is unacceptable. No luxury item is worth it.

Please, no flames guys - it's only my opinion.
Best,
Mark

The worst part is I’m not dealing with a salesperson I’m dealing with the owners.
