Do people treat you different when you wear a Rolex?

In any context and in any way?

Another thread topic inspired me to make this thread. I am curious what stories you guys have to tell.

For me, I can tell a difference when I am browsing around in luxury stores. I think sales associates are trained to look at your wrist. It's kinda the idea that he wears that so he can probably afford to buy something and is worth the effort.

Biggest difference is at Rolex ADs though. Wear my Omega or something else, generally just get treated as a young guy window shopping. No one treats me badly but I certainly never felt like I was treated great. Now, I walk into an AD and the glance at the wrist is followed by a big smile and great treatment.

At the end of the day, most people don't care but I can also tell that some people are looking whether they comment or not.

For me, the best part is simply the joy it gives me and the conversations it potentially starts with other watch enthusiasts. It doesn't take long to figure out I am a massive watch enthusiast.

No because I dress like a bum most of the time. They probably think I'm wearing an Invicta or something similar.

Anyone who matters to me? No. I’m not trying to be too deep either, I’m basically saying that anyone in my life I know well enough to leave an impression on would never treat me differently. I might have a cousin or friend from childhood make some type of “fancy watch” comment, but in the end if they really know me it will ultimately never affect the way they treat me.

A car dealer is a good example of someone who doesn’t really know me. I only
Mention that as an example because it was mentioned above. Will they treat me diffferently? Maybe, but I don’t have a significant enough relationship with any car dealer to know if they do or don’t.

In restaurants sometimes yes, the waiters/waitresses might provide better service and smile sweeter, but more importantly, expect very generous tips in return for their service.

So don't wear your bling shiny Rolex if you don't plan to tip well for good service:-)

No difference that I've noticed. FWIW, I've received the most comments while wearing my Speedmaster.

Angelo my man, I have to politely disagree.

I think people do notice. I just don’t think they care one way or another. Just like most everyone else, they are thinking about themselves, not a watch that someone is wearing.

Most around me don't notice or maybe a small few notice and don't care. Same thing either way. Knowing that however...I did make a mistake. A few years back I failed to remove my GMT when my wife and I went car shopping. I was wearing a long sleeved shirt, and didn't think about it. After some discussion with the sales guy, he randomly says "That's a really nice watch." Ugh.

I’ve observed over the years that very few people pay attention to the watches others wear. The only places I’ve noticed conspicuous glances at my wrist were at Rolex boutiques.

Naw... I haven't picked up on any special treatment I might be receiving because of the watch I'm wearing.

Watch salespersons do backflips when they see a Patek on your wrist.
