Owned sub-c. Whats next? Daytona?
Hi folks
Need your input here with my next purchase and here goes my story: I have had my honeymoon period with my Sub-C for the past two years and been enjoyed the time on my wrist. During the time I have had also the chance of catch and release Omega PO and Datejust II which dont stayed long with me. And after the 2 yrs period am starting to get the urge to buy another watch again (was thinking another Rolex - as many of you feel of course after owning one you will feel like getting another one ) I was earlier hunting GMT Master such as 16750, 16760, 16710, 16700 but not the GMT IIc as is has the visual-resemblance as the Sub-C. and not a fans of the GMT II BLNR as well. Amongst all these, I lost interest on it even during the hunting season and not find myself attracted to the model for long enough and starting to look at other model or other brand. By the end of this year i will have sufficient money in the budget around $12k. So after few chat with friends they all pointing to Daytona 116520 black dial At the moment I have not really decided but thought of checking with you guys if there is any other alternative around the budget, or should i just go stick with The Daytona And should i get black or white dial (At the moment, i also owned Sub-C(a keeper-safe queen)) Whats your thought guys? Any idea? Or should I get few other brands with less money, therefore more watch on my collection box? Thanks heaps

12K opens the door to a lot of possibilities. Rolex, IWC, JLC, AP...I like the Daytona if you're staying with Rolex but with a white dial. My choice would be an AP 15400/15300 in that price range.

i am having a similar dilemma, daytona or s500 (used). cost is about the same. already have an iced datejust which would look good with the s500, but daytona would look good with my m3. though i already have a lexus sedan so wth am i really gonna do with 3 cars? if only someone jacked my lexus (not something i wish for, just sayin')

Daytona is a great looking watch - especially in the black.
I always wanted to pull the trigger, but it doesn't have a date AND it has screwed in chrono pushers. What about putting up a little more and getting a 36mm Day-Date preloved in YG with white dial? |

Daytona is a great option. Just make sure you buy what you like and not what others tell you to buy.
12k is a good budget with loads of options. I'd look at the whole professional line of Rolex. If you're into other brands, AP and IWC are worth looking into. |

A SS Daytona with a white dial was my choice after owning a SubC for around 2 years. I knew I wanted a Daytona and knew the WG/Slate Dial model was out of my budget so of the SS models, I chose the white as I already have a Rolex with a black dial.
I have to admit, I didn't like it as much as I should have for $12k when I bought it, but after fine tuning the fit of the bracelet and wearing it for a couple months, my Sub spends more time in the safe than this watch and the Sub used to go with me everywhere. As others have said, $12000 opens a lot of doors and leaves a lot of choices when buying a watch, so if the Daytona isn't exactly what you are looking for, shop around. At the end of the day the only opinion that matters as to what to buy is yours. |

What have you looked at? What have you tried on? What kind of a watch do you want, sport, dress, leather strap or bracelet . . . Too many questions to answer, unless you want to be told what to do.

thanks for all the input guys
honestly, i have not had the chance to try the SS Daytona as its always out of stock here in Sydney although i had a chance to tried the WG Daytona So if i want it, i will have to submit an Expression of Interest and wait for item to arrive Anyway, I will try AP and IWC as well just to see if it sings to me Or maybe i will just save more instead to get my holy grail blue nautilus I guess i will keep on hunting until December as that's when my money will be available Thanks once again guys

Agree there are lots of option on the price range. I would suggest looking at a 26300 AP 39mm Royal oak chrono as well.
