Valid 6694 or not

Hi all,

I am double posting here. I had this in general discussion, but I thought it would be more appropriate here instead:

I am looking at a coworkers watch which was his fathers. Looking at the watch tells me that the hands don't match the dial due to the dial having no lume.

My question has to do with the word "swiss" at the bottom of the watch. Most 6694 watches I've seen say t swiss t.

I seem to recall that just the word swiss is found on older watches, nearer to the 50s.

I am interested in opinions about the watch. By the way, I would never deflate my coworker and say something negative about his fathers watch.

Looks ok. The hands were replaced at some point. The style of hands are from much later in the watches life, most likely service replacements. Originally it would have had non-lume dauphine hands.

Is the "SWISS" correct?

Should it be "T SWISS T"?

Not always.
It was explained that hands were replaced. The original hands didnt have lume probably.

Anyway....the dial is in poor condition unfortunately. The lack of t swiss marking is really the last thing to worry about.

You can source another dial or restore this one.....as it is less common with those hour markers.
Also, it looks like water has made it inside so It would be interesting to see whats the state of the movement.

PS: there is no need to be negative about it but if you tell him the reality I would regard it as being helpful. I guess he would like to wear and cherish it....therefore a service and a clean would not hurt to suggest.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't think I'll discuss any details about the watch with its owner. I would hate to say something that would be taken as negative about the watch. He is just happy to have something like this from his father.

Yes, of course! That is what I was looking for. The original watch was without lum and the T's are for tritium, so the watch correctly says just SWISS.

Thanks
