Water bottle

Hi all,

In light of environmental issues and use of single use plastics I’m looking to stop using single use bottled water.

Will use a water filter kept in the fridge and need a bottle.

I’ve tried several reusable bottles and have found they always seem to alter the taste of the water either get a plastic or metal taste depending on bottle material.

Anyone recommend a decent quality reusable bottle? Any experiences?

Thanks.

I use a Dopper bottle. Don't know if you can get them in the US.

And I use Salomon soft flasks (mini camelbak style with mouthpiece), for during my long runs.

Nalgene makes pretty good bottles. A lot of different sizes and colors as well. Use it weekly while flying.

I have Yeti, Hydro Flask and Kleen Kanteen. The Kleen Kanteen gets the most use by far but it has nothing to do with the taste or which keeps the water the coldest the longest (as they are all about even) and everything to do with their sports cap which I find the best for drinking from.

Honestly I get a little metal taste from all of them but I like the taste so much I bought 2 dozen metal pint cups for drinking water at home. I haven’t found an alternative to metal that will keep water cold for 24+ hours.

That’s what I find, that metallic taste they seem to carry, maybe it’s a case of getting used to it.

Hydroflask and Yeti. However, I did just buy an Eddie Bauer knock off that is every bit as good for 30% of the price.

I use an empty glass juice bottle with filtered water from my tap. I drink one these day at work. Here is today’s bottle. Nothing fancy been doing for years long before it became fashionable. Never would pay for water in a bottle.

All the millennials I know use the S'well bottles.

So that HAS to be good for the environment, taste good and look cool.

Probably the best idea of all even with a risk of breaking. No cost, no altered taste and maximum recycle value (for the original juice container, that is).

I've got a couple Yeti's that all work great as well as a Swell bottle that I usually keep on my desk, also another worthy comp. I don't think you can go wrong with any insulated bottle so long as you keep it clean and don't let anything other than water sit in it.

Sub-Zero bought at Home Depot. Holds a whole tray of ice cubes and keeps water cold a really long time.
Otherwise I just use a regular hip flask. Not insulated but small enough to fit anywhere and leak proof.

Through my own research, I have deduced that a reverse osmosis filter attached to your tap at home is CONSIDERABLY better than store bought bottled water. Good that you’re using glass instead of plastic too.

Thanks. It’s free! Glass has no leaching properties so water tastes like water. I have a triple filtered 3M system in my basement fed up to the kitchen on a separate spigot. I put the bottle in the dishwasher at night and fill with fresh water. I’ve been doing this for well over a decade. I do swap out the bottle cap as they begin to rust.

In over a decade I’ve never broken it. After a while I recycle it and use a new one. It fits perfectly in the morning in the driver door compartment
