Rolex now when you go out?

Hi all ! Hope all is well with you . Being on staying at hope we all need to go get food or just a walk out side . I know a lot of people who had excellent jobs and now unemployed . That being said , I have been wearing my G shock mudmaster or Turtle or Tuna when I’m out and about .
My reason and I speak for myself only . I do not want to have a 12 grand Rolex in a wrist when people don’t have enough money to pay bills and food . I know food banks are running out even when there are long lines . We give to food banks and our church too. I’m one of the fortunate ones that still has to work .
Am I being too Paranoid about wearing a Rolex in the wild now?
Give me your thoughts please . Thank you !

Nice thought to not want to wear it when people are struggling.. but I would continue wear whatever you enjoy wearing. Most people wont even notice.

I wear what I want wherever I so desire. Sometimes a YG Rolex. I don't need food banks so I don't take from them. I don't wear the watch to rub anyone's face in it.

In the 20 years I've owned Rolexes I have had only a few people ever inquire or comment about my watch.

There will always be people in need and we can donate to help them. Wearing or not wearing a certain watch is irrelevant.

If you are the CEO of a cruise line seeking a government/taxpayer funded bailout then probably put away the Rolexes for now...

For everyone else who has worked hard, saved diligently and planned for stormy days...they have nothing to worry about

I only have one Rolex at home. The rest are at the bank, so my 15270 has become my Official Quarantine Watch, not because I don't have enough modest watches at home to switch out to, but because I was wearing the Explorer II when the quarantine began and after about a week, I just decided to keep wearing it until it's all over. By that time, my 15270 will have become a very special watch for having been with me during the Great Pandemic of 2020.

My Official Quarantine Watch

I see your point. In my daily, I wear what I feel like. People aren't focused on me and definitely not my watch.

My taste is pretty conservative. If I wore a peacock piece, I would probably leave it at home when I work at the food bank.

Wearing my watch, even when out for groceries. No one is looking at what’s on my wrist, but if I have a mask on my face.

Under current circumstances, a box of toilet paper, hand sanitizer, or Lysol wipes is way more of an attention grabber than any Rolex...

Nothing wrong with either approach. While most watches go unnoticed, especially the ss and ss looking models, it never hurts to dress down should you feel it's best to do so and it’s always nice to give some lesser worn models a run.

unless they are watch enthusiasts, people are not generally wrist watching. i work with patients of various socioeconomic backgrounds. The ones that do wear nice watches are pleasantly surprised when I notice their time piece. Some share their watch stories and some go yeah its what im wearing today.

I do wear mine, and I think consciously about how lucky I am to be safe and comfortable. It reminds me to give more away to other people who need it now.

You are who who are if you are genuine and honest. Changing your style seems somewhat superficial. There is enough empathetic platitudes being displayed in this world. No one cares what watch you wear except you. What’s next? Not driving the $100k automobile, living in the big house?? Absolutely silly to feel guilty of your success and worldly possessions.

Thanks.

That's actually a 16570.

I don't know what I was thinking when I typed that post.

Agreed. It's rare that anyone but my friends who are into watches even notice if you are wearing one, let alone what kind.

With all the uncertainty surrounding us, I would say wear your watches. You probably own them because they bring satisfaction and maybe a sense of accomplishment or celebration to your life. This event has highlighted that life is fragile. Just remember that you did not cause this and no one knows what tomorrow will bring.

I was wearing my 16570 (explorer ii) when going out as I felt like it was my adventure watch, but I've switched to the hulk as I need some brightness in my day.
