Low Amplitude?

Hi folks. Hope everyone is well and taking proper precautions.

I have a 16570, A serial, which was serviced exactly a year ago. When it came back from service, it was running perfectly with amplitude in the 290’s with the dial in the horizontal positions and 260’s and 270’s with the dial in the vertical positions.

I put it on the Timegrapher the other day, fully wound, and was surprised to see that the amplitude had dropped so that it is now in the 260 range with the dial in the horizontal positions and from a low of 203 in the crown down position to a high of 230 in the crown up position, with 229-CL and 220-CR.

This seems to me to be too much of a drop in amplitude over the course of a year. The watch has not been dropped or banged around. The rate and beat error are both excellent.

Is this something that needs to be checked out? I’ve put my other watches on the Timegrapher and they all check out fine so I’m pretty certain it’s not a malfunction in the Timegrapher.

Thoughts?

My bad. I’m thinking this should be in the Rolex WatchTech forum. Mods, please move it if it’s appropriate. Thanks.

That does sound a bit low. I assume you've double-checked the lift angle.

Yes, huge drop which tells me there is unwanted friction and possibly damaged parts, which can happen over time.

Thank you, Phillip. Coming from you, I think that’s the definitive answer.
