Vintage Submariner - Date with no cyclops?

Was there a authentic vintage Submariner that had the date feature but no cyclop? Sorry if this is a rookie question. Thanks in advance!

Although not original, it's not uncommon to find a non-cyclops crystal on a Sub with date. Some people like the look.

Crystal could have been replaced with non-OEM or I have heard that people could remove the cyclops with a blow dryer and a steady hand. Some people preferred the smooth, clean look.

Is the cyclops on a plastic crystal part of the mold or is it a separate glued on piece?

I believe that only works w sapphire crystals.

Plexi crystals are prone to warping and melting under height heat.

...trust me on that.

I can not find the source anymore but I have read somewhere it was part of the mold.
Considering this, it does not mean it can not be removed but the process would be, IMHO, a bit different from what is written above :)
What you usually see when looking at 1680 without cyclop is basically a 5513 glass.

Kind regards,
