GPs have terrible resale value, although they seem to come up for resale less than most other brands. Despite its low numbers, I would suggest you were overpaying if you paid more than the vicinity of $5000 for that watch. Probably closer to $3000 would be about right.

Great watch, and not too thick, unlike its 1000m brethren.
Under-appreciated, to a fair degree, and as pointed out, best bought with a view to long term owning or pre-owned if you’re likely to sell within a year or two.
Bezel insert is white gold.
Lovely blue dial, and same design layout to the Tribute to John Harrison, which differs to the standard version by replacing the central seconds hand with then sub dial at 10.
Bracelet version, like in 99% of all other cases, makes the better financial choice, since the bracelet bought separately afterwards will cost a hefty chunk — not much change out of £2K, iirc.

Great watch. No idea on the value, but it's a nice one to own. I've happily worn Rolex since 1974, but over the last 10 years, I've given my small collection to my sons. I was down to a late 90's 14060 and my father's 1959 Thunderbird, when one of the sons lost his Exp2.

I wanted to give him the Sub, but that would have left me with no tough diver. A 40mm GP Seahawk came up for sale, and I jumped. I gave him the 14060 at Christmas. Gotta say the Seahawk is better built than any Rolex I owned. Now, I haven't owned the newest Rolex models, but the GP isn't their newest, either.

The bracelet is definitely nice, but it has no safety clasp or micro adjustment.
