Rolex Datejust 41 Oyster vs Jubilee
Hi there. I recently purchased a Datejust 41 (blue dial) and I had the choice to go for a Jubilee or Oyster bracelet. The salesperson talked me into the Jubilee because I already have an Explorer on an Oyster. Despite generally preferring the Oyster I naively agreed, as at the time I was thinking that I could switch the Oyster over from Explorer from time to time. Having now tried that I have realised the Datejust has 21mm lug widths, and the Explorer 20mm.
I have a couple of questions I would appreciate guidance on: 1. Is the Datejust Oyster the same actual bracelet as e.g. the 20mm Explorer except with different 21mm end joints which attach to the lug? i.e. is it only the attachment links that are different, or is the entire bracelet actually 1mm bigger on the Datejust? If the former, then is it possible to buy 21mm end joints so I can switch over the Oyster onto the Datejust as originally planned. 2. I have searched and cannot find any 21mm Oyster bracelets, I was considering buying one and having the option of wearing the Datejust on either that or the Jubilee. Any guidance on where to purchase an authentic Rolex Oyster bracelet would be much appreciated. Thanks |

I bought a dj41 on jubilee a few months back. The sales person offered to order in an oyster bracelet for me if I wanted and said I could come back at any time and order it at a later date.
This was at Goldsmiths so it may be worth giving them a try if your AD won’t order one for you. From memory it was around £800 for the oyster bracelet. |

Is this correct? So if you buy a DJ41 with jubilee, the typical oyster for the DJ41 won’t fit?? Seems wrong - maybe I’m misunderstanding |

The jubilee is superior in terms of wear, and comfort.
I wore a jubilee for 15 years and it looked brand new. I wore an oyster for 4 weeks and it looked scratched to hell. Always go jubilee whenever possible. |

The jubilee is far more comfortable on DJ41 than the Oyster

The Oyster bracelet can make the DJ look a little sporty, but I figure if I'm going to wear at Datejust, it's going to be on a Jubilee. That bracelet was introduced on the DJ and goes along beautifully with it.

In terms of scourcing another (spare) bracelet, seemingly people on this forum have done this via AD’s. |
