Sinn vs Rolex build quality

Good morning. Can anyone provide some insight into the build quality of Sinn vs Rolex steel sports watches. I like some Sinn watches, but I am not able to see any in person.

Thanks

If that’s a knock at Sinn, you truly shouldn’t be such a fanboy. They put out some quality stuff.

OP-if you like their styling they make some really good models. Incorporate some cool technology like tegimented cases and always use reliable movements. Not to mention, the price point is a mere fraction of Rolex. I know of some people that prefer Sinn over Rolex for their ‘beater’, especially after Rolex turned more ‘jewelry-esque’ with the ceramic bezels. What model were you looking at? Dive line or instrument watch?

A question on TRF I can actually answer. I'm a fan boy of sinn. I like a lot of their watches esp 556,u1, 903.

But.....

Their quality control is nowhere close to rolex. In fact they are known to have questionable QC issues. from dirt and hair on dials to wonky bezels.

I had to go thru 4 Sinn u1 to get one that was defect free. That one was sold when it needed service I didnt want to take a chance on it coming back with an issue.

Years ago I did some research and read plenty of reviews on Sinn watches an I’m confident in saying you can’t go wrong from what owners have said about built quality’s etc.

I’ve never owned one so can’t help comparing to my Rolex.

They have some great looking Tool Watches

I own a Sinn, it’s my second one. The quality is VERY good especially at the price point. Once you get into the tegmented steel models they are even better and hard to scuff, scratch or ding. Super nice watches. I don’t think they are at the level of Rolex, but neither is the cost. I love my Sinn and would buy another in a minute

I personally like Sinn. They use a lot of ETA movements, so if you don't mind that (which you shouldn't IMO) then they're great watches.

Having said that...... Rolex blows everything else out of the water when it comes to quality. Ive owned watches from many different companies, and my Rolex just exudes quality like no other. The precision to which they're made is clearly evident when you get one on your wrist.

The Toyota-BMW comparison was apt. I will post my picture of my Sinn. It’s a looker. It’s not a Rolex, but it costs a fraction of the price. The Sinn site has a roadshow in some major cities annually. Check their site. You can see them in person there.

I owned the chronograph, can't remember the model#. I loved it, their rubber straps are awesome. The only thing I noticed was the winding mechanisim was somewhat loud when it would spin. The bezel would stay in place very well unlike the JLC Navy Seals Chrono I owned.

I had a Sinn pilot for a few months and it was nice with great lume, the silicon strap was a great choice over the calfskin, anyway the finish looked like chrome plating that was going to start peeling off at any minute. Good bang for the buck.

Sinn has some cool designs and make pretty good watches, however, there are quite a bit of quality/QC issues. Let's face it, the quality control, accuracy and attention to detail is no where near a Rolex, but then again, you pay 1/5th the price so I'd say it is an attractive buy and good value.

Here's my Sinn 142 St S

It has been very reliable (but probably mostly due to the Lemania 5100 movement.. !) I love it.. !

I got it many years ago (15?) new and it did have a tiny tiny lint or something on the dial when I got it. So I have to agree with the post above about the QC. But no experience with the current offering.

Thanks for all the great responses.

I am in love with the Sinn 910 srs. The retro flyback chronograph, it's beautiful. I like that it has a decorated / modified 7750 caliber. It looks great on the black leather strap with the red accents.

I have a new Submariner I bought last November. I love the watch and wear almost every day. I have two Seiko divers that I dive with and now need a chronograph.

I have not been able to handle a watch yet that I think is built better than my sub. It's a tank. That was my reasoning to look at Sinn, I have also read the build quality is good. Trying to verify.

thanks

Very well built watches for the money. Not on the same level as Rolex but still very nice watches.

Have and enjoy both. My 757 UTC is one of my favorites, purchased on Helmut Sinn's 100th birthday.

I really wish I would have grabbed one of these (50pc LE) when they were available. I think it's the best model they've ever released. Idk why they don't release a monochrome U2, I'm not a huge fan of all the red coloring.

I don’t own a Sinn yet, but last December I went to the Watchbuys road show here in NY and tried on a ton of their watches. The build quality is great, it exceeded my expectations.

For me, their use of ETA calibers is a plus, as they are easy and less expensive to service. The Sinn I plan to buy is the 103 chrono, which uses the ETA/Valjoux 7750. Great watch, reliable proven movement.
