OP's FS thread says sold. If actually sold I wonder if buyer is a TRF member and would update thread after delivery.

On second thought buyer may not have actually read this thread.

I'm hoping to eventually buy one from an AD, and I definitely can't agree with the OP's sequence of decisions, but I'm not in a position to really judge. It would be great for all of us who want to buy and wear our desired pieces could get them when we want them from an AD, but not everyone has the same motivations for pursuing grail pieces and hence we have the market that we do today.

I don't think there were any personal attacks on the OP and I know the frustrations of many who try to source a Daytona and unfortunately have to pay grey pricing (glad I'm not a Daytona fan) I think what may have got everyone's pantys in a bunch was it seemed like the OP joined the forum very recently and became a pledge member immediately to gain some valadation as a trusted seller. Just saying but other than that he's not the first to flip for a profit. BTW to me it's a hobby that l love to have ownership in. I make my money working 6 days a week and don't have much time to sit on the couch except occasionally when l get home to unwind and join in this forum. Peace.

We'll never know. Due to his boasting about said pickup, his for sale listing is now 'sold', but we all know that actually means 'nobody will ever buy from me now'.

That's assuming it actually sold. Either he packed it up and went elsewhere or a TS offered him a lesser amount just to get rid of it.

Whichever AD did so poorly on vetting needs their staff retrained. Although, I still don't buy the original story.

...obviously it's "not that hard" to find a SS Daytona when you happen to be purchasing multiple pieces, including a full PM. I think you're missing the fact that a majority of people dont have that luxury. I believe you know there was a bit more involved than "some legwork" on your part.

I'm on the fence with this. I'd much rather go the other way and get PM's or non-hyped models just to avoid the premium but if I really wanted a hyped reference but had to wait years to get it, I will probably pay the premium.

Wow. With the amount of crap the OP got he will probably never come back. If he did indeed sell the watch I wonder if someone will fess up if it was someone on here and will he get ripped for buying it from the OP. That is if he actually sold in but I can see someone PMing him and making a deal even with as many on here giving him crap.

Being one of the people who had to pay the premium its surprising and disappointing someone is able to get two daytonas so fast. This guy got lucky thats all there is to it. Him bragging about it and turning around and selling it on the same day probably wasn't the best decision. If he did a little reading he would have found most people on this forum aren't fans of the inflated price of the daytona on the grey market.

Anyway, I doubt this guy will stick around after this.

Did you read the part where he started to mock everyone on the forum with "Eau de Arrogance" after bragging about it.

I did. Not the best decision. I dont think he is going to stick around for very long and if he does he will probably get the cold shoulder if he posts anything ever again.

He's happy - he's sold it. This whole sordid affair encapsulates everything that's wrong with the current Rolex market. These beautiful watches have become a target for spivs and speculators.

The OP should have been circumspect about his recent acquisition and eventual sale. But it’s his property so he can do anything he wants.

The PM Daytona isn't really that hard to get. I have seen quite a few of them in dealer cases. All of the ADs would have sold it if I wanted it.

My best guess is someone used this thread to their advantage to neg what they felt was a sweet deal (I’m guessing 16k range) for this watch and they feel like the winner in this whole situation.
