Would you bother getting serviced?

It's been over 6 years since my 16710 was last serviced (by the RSC). It's been running about +5 seconds per day (has gotten worse over the past couple of years). I've just been wearing it fine, but lately I've been wondering whether to bother getting it serviced?

Would you bother getting it serviced at this point, or just suck it up and merely wait until it is broken or really needs it to get it serviced?

Edit: This is my first poll. Thanks.

C. I'd bring it in to have it looked over. They'll let you know if it needs service. It might just need a regulation.

I wouldn't sweat it. I'd service at 10 years.

I had called the RSC near me, and they said that since it is well out of the warranty period, my only option was to have it serviced rather than merely regulated. The other option I think is that I don't have to necessarily go to the RSC and could potentially just have it regulated at by a local watchmaker.

I've just been ignoring the potential issue though.

5s doesn't bother me if it has been consistent. However if like you said it's getting worse then yes, send to RSC

really!? That's crazy.

It might be worth an in person visit.

I don't really blame them. I had multiple watches that they (RSC Beverly Hills) regulated for free since they were under warranty, and the RSC is close to my home and office. I think because they recommend servicing every 5 years as their policy, they told me to get it serviced and wouldn't merely regulate the watch. The service intervals for the later model Rolex watches seem to be longer than 5 years though now.

I'd take it to a rolex authorized shop and have it put on a timer. If everything is in spec I wouldn't bother with a service yet. Maybe a regulation.

Looking at my Watch Tracker app:
- 3+ yrs ago: running +1.6 sec/day
- 2.5 yrs ago: running +3.6 sec/day
- Over past 6 months: running +5 sec/day

Getting worse, but not so bad that I can't stand it.

I choose:

C: Get it pressure tested. It is keeping constant time anomaly basically, just running slow consistently.

If it has been getting worse I vote yes get it serviced. I definitely would not wait until it's broken and I would still try an in person visit to the RSC.

Wow. Interesting. Poll is split exactly evenly at this point (10 vs. 10).

As long as it is consistent, and you are okay with the +/- variance, would leave alone.

I’ve had my 16710 regulated by RSC well outside the warranty period for free so either different rules for different service centers or you got some bs from those guys. Now to service or not is up to you though but I wouldn’t.

This for what its worth I recently acquired mine from an out of state AD & no service was needed, timed it against my Watch Tracker app & it has read +5 within the 24 hour period after checking. Its currently at +22/+23 since last time I had checked it w the App on my I phone which was a few weeks back.

Probably just magnetized. First thing I would check. Hold it up to good quality compass and see if it moves.

Have you tried setting it its side, crown up, when you're not wearing it?

I wouldn’t, and I certainly wouldn’t send it to RSC, but I’m not a big fan of RSC’s. Too many horror stories about ending up with a service dial and no recourse.

Arrrrrhhhhhhhh, Your watch works within the COSC accepted daily variation, -4+6 !!!

There is nothing wrong with your watch, let alone needing a service.
You can get it regulated but that it doesn't mean it will necessarily get better.

for me, it is a 10 yrs service interval if it keeps good time. your watch keeps good time, it is within COSC.

I wouldn't service it. Keep wearing it until the accuracy bothers you and service it then. +5 is still pretty good.

I'd recommend to only service it when it's really acting up.
