Pawn Shop Find Vintage Tudor Sub for $2k -- What's all wrong with this thing?
Found a very peculiar old Tudor Sub at a sketchy pawn shop. It's a mishmash of some original vintage Tudor and some not so original aftermarket parts. They told me they bought it thinking it was real and got burned, so they're trying to get out from under it hence the asking price.
I'd like to get more experienced eyes on this thing just to see what all is wrong with it. I know the dial is trash, the bracelet is trash (clasp highly questionable), and the bezel is aftermarket. The movement looks right though, as does case/crown/crystal. Hands are questionable. Please chime in, I'd like to see if I missed anything obvious when looking at this particular example. I'm not interested in buying it so much as I am curious about what has all been changed. It's not everyday you just find a vintage Tudor in the pawn shop, thought it would be fun to examine it and learn some things as I'm no vintage Tudor expert. |

Yup, pretty much everything is wrong with this watch. Especially the movement...

I concur with the as stated opinion, run away; logical enough to ask “why” but rest assured, every element of this watch when broken down looks fake to funky. I don’t even think the bracelet looks right. The dial is trash, as are hands. Case looks made in a garage. It’s a mess, I don’t even know if it’s a $200 pawn shop gamble.

The 16520 on the bracelet is a Daytona watch reference. Not a bracelet. The whole thing just looks freaky. Where's the logo on th dial?

Send the owner of the pawnshop a link to this post. How he thought he could get away with that astounds me.

I stand corrected on thinking the movement and case were right. Pretty wild to see something like this actually exists that is essentially totally fake

Why would a person devote their living to making fakes, with all the equipment, engineering, research and expense that it entails, and get it all so wrong?

Rolex Logo on the case back is poorly carved and so is the Rolex logo on the crown, not good.

That’s horrible? Pawn shop? He needs to stop if he’s buying crap like this and thinking it’s real.

Curious which Pawn Shop? The term "They got burned" means they know its all fake, including the movement
