This a great gesture Steve
a) Nakaya Neo Standard Kuro-tamenuri with clip b) Medium c) Rhodium clip and nib with a cursive italic tip d) The reasons for my choice: - I love Japanese lacquer and the way it ages. So the idea of the red bursting through the black as time passes is very attractive. - I love to write in a flowing style, so the medium nib and the cursive tip will give me the greatest variability and flexibility. - I feel that the black/red lacquer and rhodium nib and clip combination, resemble the Katana. With the black/red lacquer representing the Sheath and the rhodium nib and clip the blade. It would be like writing with a sword.

1) MatteS Briarwood Light Color
2) Extra Fine Nib 3) Pink Gold I have very limited knowledge of pens. I have a brown Mont Blanc given to me by my wife when we got married with my initials engraved in the clip. As for this thread, I have visited the page and fell in love with Karis's selection. I imagine that, coupled with the Mont Blanc, it will be the beginning of a new passion in my life. Thank you Steve, for going through all this trouble to give something away. Truly a selfless act.

(a) Long Size Cigar (No Clip) Kuro-tamenuri (Black-red)
(b) Broad, two-tone nib (c) Maximum smoothness on nib, Pink gold clip (d) I chose these combinations since I believe they will look good together (oh really? ). I have seen (and drooled over) several Nakaya pictures and the ones that I like the most have been blackish red. I think that the broad nib will fit my writing style. |

What a great way to kick off a New Year..
(a) Briarwood Gloss Deep (b) Medium nib (c) Cursive Italic shape, standard 14k nib to match the clip (d) As the keeper of my Grandfathers Schaeffer pens, that he was never known to be without; a open makes a great personal treasure that generations can identify their ancestors with.. His pens have long since lost their ability to hold inks and write like they were meant to do. I would hope that my own children and grandchildren could identify with my own choices in a quality writing instrument........ and the tradition can continue on..

A.) Matte Briarwood Deep, Matte Deep Color.
B.) Fine, no altercations C.) Platinum converter D.) I would like this to be a new daily writer, what better than a robust material like Briarwood, that will absorb the oils and character of an old pipe! As this is going to be something that I would want to be with me at all time, it would be nice to have the Fine nib and the platinum converter so I am not smudging ink on inferior laser paper that might be available. I can't wait to get warm and cozy with my new baby.

What a nice gesture Steve! I would love to have one of these- but after reading a few of the submissions above, I think I will pass on this offering as it's quite apparant others will cherish the pen much more than I. Can't wait to hear from the winner!

OK, I'm awake now!!!
A. Celluloid Jade with yellow gold clip. B. Broad nib, yellow gold. C. Masonic emblem and Police badge if possible (like my avatar). D. I've always preferred a resin barrel to a metal fountain pen. They're generally lighter and more comfortable to hold. The jade color is a throwback to the colors used in fine pens in the 30's and 40's. A broad nib is easier for me to use and I like the way this nib allows an even ink flow. My customization refers to my profession, and my Masonic affiliation. Lastly, thank you Steve for this outstanding idea!!! |

a) Neo Standard in Kuro-Tamenuri
b) Super Extra Fine nib in pink gold color c) pink gold clip d) Wife still hand-writes all her notes and agenda, and is the one that truly appreciates find writing instrument. Therefore, this is for her. While red is her favorite color, the Kuro-Tamenuri starts out to look almost black suits her young age. With time, the red color shows more and the pen will age beautifully with her. The super extra fine nib is how she likes her pen, because it write Asian characters better (according to her). The pink gold nib and clip are to add feminine touch to the pen.

Well, I'll try...
a)Neo Standard Writer (with clip) Black b)Medium c)Every thing Yellow Gold (I don't really care about if it is 18K,14K,etc), If Possible an engraving on the nib, I'd like that engraving to be "GAD" d) I chose the Neo Standard Writer in Black, because of its such simple design. Like Kyle L said if I win this giveaway, this pen will be used for everyday work and I do not like my things to call the attention of others. I hope this is well written, My English is not very good... |

Steve: Thanks for this wonderful giveaway. My choice would be
A Decapod Writer Heki-Tamenuri with a pink gold clip. The nib would also be two tone pink music engraved broad . I would customize it with a stone finish and perhaps a roll stopper ( Pink gold if available.) My reasons are : The shape, design and color are simple, reminding me of the style of Shaker Furniture or houses by Frank LLoyd Wright. Classic, Elegant and functional. I chose Pink Gold to match and remind me of my TTDJ in Everose. The stone finish is a contrast to the smooth overall look and is a personal statement.

It isn't part of the standard pen range. It is a special edition pen and it costs $3,000. So I think you need to make a standard range selection.

First a huge THANKS to Steve and John for the opportunity!!!
(a) Nakaya Neo Standard Black Pen (b) Medium Nib (c) Rhodium Clip and Nib - I would also like John's hallmark somewhere on the pen at his choosing. (d) I have chosen this style as it would fit well with a black pen set that I have kept from my past. I started in the mining industry 30 years ago this year as a draftsman creating and updating mylar maps and mechanical drawings. As a draftsman, penmanship was an art that some mastered and others struggled with. My drafting rated maybe an 8 of 10 when compared to some really good work. As I worked toward mastering my skill there was this revolution in computer technology (CAD) that inevitably lead to the demise of hand drafting. Creating those fonts I worked so hard to master became a mere mastering of which pull-down to use. In futility, I kept my pen set fresh for a number of years until it became apparent that the art of drafting would never return to the art it was. The pen set has been stowed for several years and I haven't used a good pen since. To win this Pen is unimportant but this Giveaway has rekindled on old flame. Good luck to all!. Mike |

Thanks for the opportunity Steve, a great gesture indeed.
a) Nakaya Neo Standard Aka-tamenuri (Reddish-Red) b) Medium c) Ruthenium Clip and Nib. d) I love the reddish glow of this pen and I am a big fan of the shape, which seems very unusual for a Nakaya. Cheers Milan |

(a) Long size cigar black
(b) Fine nib (c) Rhodium clip and nib, improved flexibility and inkflow. (d) The reason I want a pen like these is that it represents all that I stand for. Writing with a fountain pen forces you to slow down, to think, to contemplate. Like the mechanical watch, it is an anachronism. Low-tech, so it seems. But a fountain pen is an oases in this hustle and bustle world of ours
