Marcolino AD - Portugal

Good Morning guys,

I been a long time lurker here and finally received a gift from my wife for a 7 year wedding anniversary - a brand new Datejust 41, with blue dial. Super excited and still drooling over it. I am a little concerned as it was a big purchased for her, for us and just wanted to check it with you guys on what you think.

I live in NYC and when I last visited an AD store in brooklyn I was quoted $7350 (smooth bezel and oyster bracelet), they said I can get a minor discount of perphaps 5% - nothing crazy.

So long story short, when we were in Porto (which is a lovely place in Portugal) we stumbled upon a jewelry/watch store - Marcolino and after trying the watch on again, i fell in love and one thing led to another after negotiating we agreed on a price, which was already less then in NY and with tax exemption there it became like 20-22% cheaper then it would of been back home. I am excited, but I am not an expert, obviously I checked the website to make sure they are authorized Rolex dealer, which it seems like they are. I got all the paperwork-detailed reciept, 5 year international warranty card with serial number, model number, store info, my info and date it was purchased on, original box and tags.

I feel like its a too good of a deal? I checked their google and facebook reviews and it seems like they been around for a while and have stellar feedback. Just want to make sure I didn't get a fake. The rep seemed very honest and straightforward, answered all my questions and didn't rush us. I am what are the odds of authorized dealers selling a fake? Obviously paid with a credit card. I know some details that are supposed to be on a rolex, serial numbers must match, 2.5 magnification date window, quiet movement, steady hand movement, laser etched crown at 6 o'clock on crystal, which are all confirmed. All the stickers, etc. But somehow I am still nervous, maybe cause I feel like its just too good of a deal, I don't know...

ANY FEEDBACK would be appreciated. Love the watch, cant stop starring at it actually.

No AD listed on the Rolex web site will sell you a fake period.

You got a nice discount, enjoy it and dont worry

If you didn’t declare the watch at re entry to the USA your discount is mostly due to not paying taxes on the purchase, not any issue with the supplier. Nice watch by the way.

Thanks guys. The watch retails for 7250.00 USD in the states, in NY he tax is roughly 8.5% so I’m counting around $8k total. In Portugal it was 6900.00 euro including tax, I got a discount of roughly 10% initially, and then another with international tax break since I was leaving the country within 21 days of purchase. So I was only charged by AD 51xx.00 euros, he remaining 1200 euros was taxes which I avoid paying due to the tax incentive. Don’t know if that makes sense? But after all said and done on MasterCard we were charged $6080.00 usd. So if it wasn’t for tax incentive it would be close to $1350-1400.00 more
