15450 or 15500

Hi folks
I have the chance to pick either white 15450 or grey/black 15500. I heard and read some articles that say the 41 wears like 43. And the 37 wears like 39

My daily watches are rolex ss daytona, gmt, sd43

This will be my first AP. my concern is that will the 41 wear like my SD43. Which i feel uncomfortable in a hot day (sweaty wrist make the watch slides around)

I like the size of the 37. Tried it already very comfortable. But my AD will need to order 1 extra link since cant fit my wrist comfortably (Which i dont feel is the right watch for you if you need to order a link)

Any input is appreciated since i need to pull the trigger next november. Estimated

I usually advocate for the 15450, but it might not be the right fit for you if you have to buy an extra link right off the bat to just wear it.

Sounds like the 15500 might be a better pick especially if you are rocking the SD43 already! Looking forward to the pics.

OP. I would recommend going with the 15500. I don’t own an AP (yet) but I have been reading about the watches and the 15500 is not going to wear that much bigger.

You said next November as in 2020 or next month?

What's your wrist size? If you can pull off (and like) wearing a SD43 I think you're fine with a 15500. The AP bracelet is, imo, much more comfortable than Rolex bracelets and if you're concerned about sliding around just wear it tighter above the bone.
Try to find one at a grey or boutique to just try on first perhaps. The ROC41mm wears the same as well so you could try one of those on for size as well. But if you're happy with the look and feel of the 15450 then you can't go wrong here either way.

15500 all the way, this is an easy one for you since you can wear the SD43.. congratulations!

Entirely depends on wrist size. 6.75” or below then go 37mm. If bigger than 6.75” then go 41mm.

Looking at your wrist shots with the sd43. Definitely go with the 15500 you will easily pull it off, grey would be my recommendation, it’s truly stunning dial especially on the 15500.

Thanks all for the input. I tried the 41mm RO chrono. That is why i hesitate on the 15500. A bit chungky feeling. But my AD told me the 15500 is less chunky due to the lack of complications

Base on most of the input here. I am leaning to the 15500.

15450 is comy but needing to add the extra link is the thing that set me off.

Cheers

I have a 26331 and a 15500. To me the 15500 wears smaller perhaps because the dial is cleaner. I believe it also weighs less and is a tiny bit thinner

It depends on your wrist size. If your SD43 doesn't look too big on you, the 15500 should be a better fit. I have 6.9" wrists, and my 15500 is a perfect fit. I found the 15450 looked too small on me.

I'd get the 37mm based on your taste and size preferences. I own the 15450 and think it wears like a 39mm watch. Its wrist presence is very similar to the Daytona. I wouldn't worry about the extra link logic, I think the biggest determinate of whether of watch fits properly is whether the lugs protrude over your wrist or not. I don't think I could swing a 41 mm RO with my 7" wrist.

I have a 450...so I obviously arent AS against is as some...but I would not agree with the "fits like a 39..."

I gravitate towards smaller watches, and I'd say it only SLIGHTLY fits bitter than my 36 DD...though I think it depends on how your wrist sits...

wow i was not coherent when i wrote this...didn't have my coffee yet :)

This is the point I wanted to get across - I have a 450, so I don't have any bias against that size. However, I do not believe it "fits like a 39." I did a comparison with a 36 DayDate - the AP 37 is bigger, but not to the extent that it feels like it's +3.

Hope this helps!

This is a crock and the real answer is its subjective. I have a 7" wrist and found the 15400 too big, 15500 wears even larger than it.

OP, you are going to have to go try them and see what you like. 15500 wears way larger than 41mm.

6.75 inch wrist and I like the 36mm 14790st. I've owned 15407, 15400, 15300, 15202 as a reference.

Agreed, on these sizing breakdown. Measure your wrist and easy decision after that.

You need to try them and keep them on for a few minutes. I have the 15450 but did not have to order an extra link, it was fine out of the box for me. I would not say it wears like a 39 in general but it’s certainly a big 37.

So had the chances to try them both. The 15450 (twotone just for the sizing purposes). surely feels more comfortable and classy. And 15500 is surprisingly thick.

Im leanin towards a white/grey 15450 over a black/grey 15500. Both retail . We shall see. Last minute decision might change my heart.

Did you mean the 15450? They're the same thickness but 15450 is smaller dial

You are correct about the 15500 and 15400; they wear very big for what is suppose to be an elegant sports watch. I sold my 15400 for that reason and enjoy my 15300 so much more.

My choice would be a 39mm Royal Oak so that leaves the Jumbo or the 15300 (preowned).

You have a nice collection so I would not settle. Only get the 15450 if you like it on your wrist.

Like it was mentioned above, if you're comfortable with the SD43, go with the 15500!

I have a grey dial and couldn't be happier with it!

Personally I'd get the 500 but all depends on your preference. Don't judge the size by close up wrist shots.. that hardly shows how it truly wears imo.

15450 or 15500

15450 on my 6.3inch wrist. Feel like it wears perfect for folks with smaller wrists - I love mine.

Based on the pics, both look like they could work for you. Your wrist does look bigger than mine and I'd lean towards the 15500 if I were you. Your eye / feel on the look and fit on wrist is the best so go with your gut.

It's a lot of cash so make sure you're sure!

Another option is the 39mm 15300. I saw takuya has one up for sale which is uncommon as these dont go up that often. It's been polished though, the bezel isn't as crisp.

Just another deciding factor if you want something in between 37mm and 41mm but don't want to spring for the jumbo

Good luck

When everyone is constantly preaching about how 36mm is still a perfect mens watch, how is a 37mm AP which wears larger a womans watch?

I was thinking the same !
The 36 and new 38 Chrono are mostly considered as perfect, but the 37 too small !
