324 SC Movement - Power Reserve?

I have a watch with the 324 SC movement. Manufactured 2012 but was sealed until 2014, when I started wearing it.

In the past 6 months, and once or twice in the past 2 months, the watch has stopped. I'm not sure if the reason is that I'm not wearing it enough or if there is something else stopping the movement.

I wear the watch daily, putting it on around 7am and taking it off when I get home around 6 or 7pm. I usually switch to my SubC at night because I like the lume in the middle of the night.

Does it make sense that from this wearing pattern of my Patek I am not getting enough wrist time to wind the watch fully? I would think 12 hours per day of wear, even in a desk job, is sufficient to keep the power reserve up. Would love to avoid sending this in for service and waiting 9 months to get the watch back...

Thank you for your help.

myou give it enough wrist time. But I think because It was sealed for 2 years It might need a visit to a service center.
I would recommend a visit to an AD and discuss more before sending it to Geneva

If the watch is still under warranty, meaning the watch has a sale date on the Certificate in 2014, I would call the AD and/or HSWA for servicing.

Thank you. I guess the question is whether there is actually anything wrong with the watch though or whether I'm just under-wearing it. It keeps perfect time when it is running. To the second.

I put my Caliber 324 SC movement watch on in the morning when I leave for work and take it off when I get home in the evening and it has plenty of power reserve. Even on weekends when I don't always wear it, it often has enough power to last the weekend. It shouldn't be stopping like this.

Same here, I have two 324 SC watches with more than enough power reserve.

Rubbish! The watch is perfectly fine — it hasn't failed from sitting unused for such a short period of time.
The OP is simply not active enough to attain full wind.

Simple exercise — give the watch a good 40-50 winds, then leave it sitting. Do that on a Saturday morning, and it should still be running on Sunday evening.
PR for the movement is between 35 and 45 hours, so if you're getting that, the watch is not at fault — it's your sedentary working situation.

Patek recommends winding 5 or 10 times on their automatic movement.

12 hours of wear a day sounds like it is just not enough to fully build up PR.

The PR on the 324 simply is not that high and the rotor only winds in 1 direction which is simply not that efficient.

The watch sounds fine, either wear it more or wind it routinely.

Open up some specialist internet sites on your breaks, watch will fully wound all day every day.

Thank you, guys. This is really helpful. Out of curiosity, how many hours per day do you typically wear your automatic watches? Do you wear your watch to sleep?

Power reserve should last longer than that as stated by others with the same movement.

Just read this, may be of interest

"Did you know that an oscillating weight that winds unidirectional, is more efficient than an oscillating weight that winds bi-directional."
