FS: 1968 Tudor Submariner - 7016/0 All original with Military provenance
Hi all,
For your consideration is a tremendous example of what Tudor collector might classify as a Type 1 military Tudor 7016/0, SN: 622xxx. (see: http://tudorcollectorsite.blogspot.c...-military.html) I bought this watch from the original owner who told me the following. "In 1968 I was in the Navy and was sent Icountry Viet Nam. I bought the watch on board a ship. My enlistment was for 4 years. My 1st ship was a cargo ship, much like the one in the movie "Mr Roberts." Was on her for almost 2 years. Then was ordered to Viet Nam and the Mobile Riverine Assault Group Bravo (PBR's). Thirteen month tour, then back to the gator Navy and a Super Oil Tanker." He claimed that the watch had never been opened or modified in any way. As such, it could use a service. It runs about 1 minute fast every two days or so. As is evident from the photos, this watch has never been polished. The lugs are incredibly thick with beautifully preserved deep factory beveled edges (chamfers). The original twin clock rolex crown is present as well as the original tropic 19 superdome crystal which I managed to buff many scratches out of, yet a few still remain). The crown guards are semi-pointed and the caseback is also original. Perhaps this watch's greatest features are the beautiful faded fat font bezel insert and the crisp bezel. Moreover, the patina has evenly faded to a gorgeous creme. Also present is the unique, big lolipop second hand, which is often replaced during services on most of these vintages. The rose dial is in excellent shape. The combination of the black rose dial with the 7016/0 case and ETA movement only ran for about 1 year according to tudor collector and other sources. This watch is a rare find and a great addition for the discerning vintage rolex and tudor collector. The images with the bracelet are for display purposes only as the sale is just for the head watch. Feel free to PM me with questions, but I can more efficiently be reached via email at ippazziband@gmail.com Bank wire only only. I can provide references upon request. I would prefer CONUS buyers. However, international buyers will be responsible for all duty fees and shipping costs with insurance. I will not declare a value lower than the purchase price. Asking $3800 USD. Best, Greg
