I too was skeptical towards white dial, well its more of ivory dial actually until i tried it today.

Wow, I must say that this Ivory Dial totally converted me. Its definitely way nicer than classic. Classic is a bit too plain for me. But this Ivory dial gives one a "3 d feel" cos of the big contrast of the index. It just looks stunning and completely changed my view towards 5711 which I never give it a serious thought. All the while i wanted 5712. But now i am rather confused whether to go for this ivory dial 5711 or wait for 5712.

Strongly recommend everyone to feel it. It may convert you. It did to me. My AD is going to keep it 2 days for my consideration. I am now torn between this or 5712 ss.

i was considering 5712 a lot as well before i ended up with 5711. my preference for dial is obviously the white one, but in terms of complications & material, my preference is the original (date & steel)

but of course... you have to go with what your heart tells you rather than reviews & opinions of others. trust me, you'll get the most enjoyment that way

have fun procrastinating

Almost sleepless last night. Well, still considering whether to pull the trigger on this. My concern is that this may not stop my grail and I dont want to end up pursuing a 5712 later. Sigh. Its so hate to make decision. But at the moment, my heart falls for 5712 slightly more than this ivory.

Congrat mate, good on you that you have made a decision.
Guess this is as good as 5712. I think one wont go wrong with either this or 5712.

I actually didnt ask to take out the plastic.

Sigh Mike, this is nice. But i just worry that this ivory dial wont stop my grail. Also my home minister said ivory dial doesnt look good.

I think she will kill me if i end up buying 5712 after this ivory dial.

Sorry Mike, didnt see your message clearly. I didnt know that they have white dial for 5712? I thought white dial is only for 5711, 5726 and 5980? no?

Without actually seeing the new dial in the flesh, I vote for the original

Tried both on at my AD a while ago. Here are the pics:

Tough one, but I'd go for the blue dial.

Cheers!

They're both great, but since you're looking for an opinion, I strongly prefer the classic blue on the 5711. I think it has one of the most beautiful, interesting faces around. As people often mention, it takes on distinctly different personalities in different light, and you lose that some with the white face. I actually prefer the royal oak in white, I think.

Having said that, I think the white face is a better match on the nautilus models with more complications (5980, 5726, etc.) I haven't seen one in person, but the 5726 in white looks pretty stunning in photos.

Another vote for the blue dial!

I've tried on the 5980 and the 5711 in white dial. Don't ask me why but the 5980 works whereas the 5711 doesn't for some reason.

I really don't understand why Patek went for white. If they'd gone for silver like AP it would of looked much better. Despite the fact the 5980 in white works, I would not pick it over the blue/black 5980. The white dial 5711 was lacking contrast for me. Saying that if you gave me a white dial 5711 it would hardly ever leave my wrist so it's not like it's a bad choice.

Check the watch out in person, the dial screams silver more so than white.

ok I suck at taking photos so the silver looks a bit dirty but just some idea this dial isn't pure white.. I'd say its 60% grey 40% white
