Crossing one off my bucket list tonight

Well I decided to cross one off my bucket list tonight, took my boy to a World Series game, a first for both of us. Watching some extra innings now, I think I shed a tear or two during the flyover once it all started sinking in. Normally we're Padres fans but we're hear hoping for a NL West team win tonight.

That's great, congratulations. As a 16 year old I got to experience a Game 7 in 1997 as the then Florida Marlins beat the Indians in extra innings.

Very cool James! I once caught a foul ball at a Padres game.

Lenny, if you make it to San Diego send me a PM, I have pretty nice seats and take people to games all the time.

That's awesome Paul! I've caught a few there including one during the world baseball classic that Ian Kinsler hit. That one was definitely my coolest so far.

We're still here, 14 innings!

Omg, 14th inning stretch. I think I've caught more foul balls than had two stretches in one game. And to think I've got a 2 1/2 hour drive home too. Definitely getting our money's worth tonight!

Now it's officially the longest World Series game to date.

What an amazing experience and what a game for it to occur! It’s like you’re getting 2 for 1.... it’s 08:30am here and I’m following it.

Soccer/football fans take note: in baseball, one plays the game until a team wins playing the usual rules of the game (as in, the game doesn’t end with the equivalent of a home run contest). ;-)

Unless it rains, then everyone quits and goes home.

18 innings is like some sort of cricket test match.

Sometime between 12:30 and 1am. I was so tired I didn't remember. I just remember seeing Muncy's hit in the air and I kept screaming "it's over! It's final going to be over!" before the ball went out.

Oddly enough my boy and I have done other things that have taken more time. We stood in line for 9 1/2 hours the day that Disneyland opened Cars land, just for us to say we got on the ride on opening day. Now repeating the longest World Series game I'd do again a heartbeat, the line thing for Disneyland I highly doubt I'd do that again.

Very cool! You got your money worth!

Made game 1 last year which was the hottest and shortest world series game, if I recall correctly.

Congratulations. A great bucket list game to go to. You got 2 full World Series games for the price of one, very shrewd!

It would be tough to try and wait for the Padres to get there, my friend is a fan of them, the poor guy, haha.

Very cool. My old man took my brothers and I to a couple games back in 88 & 89. Can’t beat those memories.

Thank you all. This has been a rollercoaster of a past two weeks. A few days before this game my oldest son and I were at the jersey retirement ceremony for Paul Kariya (Anaheim Ducks hockey), followed by this WS game. I think I was preparing mentally for my wife's surgery which I didn't want to admit was worrying me. I've been at the hospital for the past few days since this game and haven't had a chance to grab onto reality until maybe 10 minutes ago. I love reading about all of your experiences and adventures, criticisms and opinions, all giving me things to think about as time passes by. Definitely gives me something to look forward to when I find myself lost and overwhelmed with having to deal with her ordeal. Looking forward to bringing her home tomorrow and hopefully taking her with me on some of these adventures.
