How do you speak with M or A, do you have contact details?

My AD tells me this is an application piece and is putting me forward for one. Do you you guys have to submit an application for this?

My AD asked me to speak during the WT event. At the end it is either M or A will decide on allocation.

As far as I can online only a few people have taken delivery of this piece but it is still early.

I’m interested to hear (particularly from anyone in the UK) if you have heard back your AD’s about the request / application for this piece? I would have thought that applications would have been approved by now...

My AD has received one and it’s gone to a VIP client. I’m on their allocation list or whatever it’s called these days and hoping to get mine next year.

Have they confirmed that you will get yours next year? For some reason they are being very slow on this piece (with me at least)

No but that’s what was indicated to me when I asked. I don’t like to keep on at them too much!

Most ADs will be lucky to get one of these a year so that’s probably why they’re reluctant to commit. It’s a special piece and you’re doing well to even be considered I think.

Both WOS and Boodles told me as a company they were getting 2 pieces each this year, Boodles have 5 branches and WOS has 4 branches dealing with Patek.

"Peter Shore" mentioned in an earlier post that his AD and another AD in a neighbouring town (both I believe family owned) were getting 5231Js this year. Therefore not sure how the allocation process work.

Cheers Sam, that’s very helpful to know. That’s a lower than I thought for WOS and Boodles. I guess I’m just going to have to be patient!

I don’t think ‘Peter’ was referring to both ‘local family’ stores, the first was a family store (the one with multiple sites) and the second one was Boodles.

I’m hearing the demand is underwhelming. Just fyi boys/girls

Don’t buy it just because it’s an application piece

Surprised to hear that, certainly not in the UK. J is not the most popular metal and may be people waiting for G, R or P

2 of my 3 AD’s in the US. Of course I haven’t talked o the 3rd ad in a bit...Maybe europe is doing better...I don’t know.

It’s not there isn’t demand for the pieces...it’s that the demand is below expectations = underwhelming. The key is to have an order book/backlog. And that sounds weak

I’m afraid I doubt this info reflects real demand for the piece - when you are talking about a piece every couple of years even 3 orders means 1 or more of those 3 customers is unlikely to receive the piece before it is discontinued.

You could be right in what you said but the backlog is building below expectations. All dress models are weak. Look no further than the 2ndary market prices for all dress pieces. Just because this is an application may offset that sentiment a smidge. I have no skin in the game here and hope it’s successful.

I was told it is below expectations Not that there is not enough demand for the pieces produced.

That’s very interesting to hear, I wonder whether that’s typical of the demand in the states? I’m doubtful. Here in the UK it seems the market is very different. My AD tells me the demand is strong, however they have only selected 3 people to put an application forward. I have also spoken to Rhône management who also tell me its very very strong (at least here in the UK). I also know someone who shops at the Salon who told him the list was closed before it even opened. I don’t know whether it’s a regional thing or perhaps even a trend towards more and more sports pieces therefore an element of truth in it.

For me I hope no one wants one, so I can get mine sooner!

Yeh I agree with this, my AD has only received a few applications despite receiving a lot of interest. Reality is one of us will get upset as they are likely to receive only 1 or 2

I think the dial on the 5231J is phonomenal! The more I look at the map, the more I love it. It's a grail piece for me.

Does anyone know how much are these selling on greys? I can't find one on Chrono24.

I doubt you will see any on the grey market any time soon, or at least I hope there won’t be any!! So many people flipped their 5131’s, most of them available on Chrono

Still very early days, we will see 5231s appearing on chrono24 later this year, I think the grey market price will be around £ 125000 - 150000
