Rolex spring bar question..

Hi members, a thought occurred to me - How corrosion resistant are the springs in the spring bar on Rolex dive watches?

I would guess that they are stainless steel. Something to "watch" out for though.

I believe they're usually replaced at service. I usually install new ones annually as I swap straps/bracelets often but that's excessive.

They are just fine. I went some years before changing the bracelet over to the strap and noticed the spring bars were black with grit and what not, even though I washed the watch and bracelet often. The spring bars cleaned up just fine though. No worries.

The OP's question is about the springs inside the springbar - not the springbar itself.

Spring-tempered 316 stainless steel is the product most often used for high corrosion resistance in spring wire manufacture. There are softer grades like 301, but it is less resistant to corrosion. There are harder grades like 904, but in fine gauge wire form it is more likely to break under constant stress.

Well one of mine has done well over 600 hours under salt and fresh water and as far as I know it still has original springbars.

Dipping in hot jacuzzi and swimming 3 times a day, 3 years in a row with my Sub.
Just have Rolex AD replaced my Sub spring bars for peace in mind!
The old spring bars still looking GOOD!
