Tropical 1680s?

HQ Milton has a stunning red sub for sale right now and I’m wondering what the serial or date range is for 1680 dials that turn tropical? I don’t see many 1680s that have browned naturally like this one and most seem to be earlier m firsts. This is the first Mk IV tropical I’ve seen.

I was under the impression that only some of the the 220m/660 ft became "Tropical" Maybe this one is artificilaly induced.

There are a couple known ft first reds that have gone tropical. Only a couple have come to market that I know of by very reputable dealers. It is very possible as I too have a ft first that is going brownish. More apparent in some light than others.

The one HQ is selling is def tropical and beautiful, Looks natural to me, however it does have some condition issues.. The dial is missing some hash marks at the 35 marker as well as else where. The case is well polished but still has some meat to it. I think the price listed is dictating the rareness of the tropical dial on a ft first.

Here is a pic of mine for reference.

SubKing is correct in saying there have been a handful of feet first subs that have turned tropical naturally. Though very rare, I can only recall 1 example in the last year from one of the dealers in the U.S.

Yes. Andrew Shear had a beautiful brown one a few years ago.

Yes. Really amazing. The red script seems to compliment the brown dial in a particularly striking way.
