Rolex 1016 Question?

Hi does the dial on this 1960 Explorer 1016 look original? To me, the text seems rather crisp in relation to the rest of the dial.

This is not a 1016. It is a 6610 with wrong dial (it should be gilt) and relumed hands.

No, it's definitely a 1016, that's what the serial number on the lugs say. Here's an image with better detail, seems like that in this image its gilt?

Apologies for the low quality photos, the watch is not currently in my possession.

The crisp lettering is probably due to it being a gilt dial. The OCC dial 1016 is very rare if this is indeed correct and not a 6610 dial. There are some around and 1960 would be correct. The pic makes it look like the dial is small for the case though. Are the edges of the dial visible?

The hands are replaced as the minute and second hands should meet the chapter ring.

I agree that for original hands it does seem that minute and second hands should meet the chapter ring.

Here is a last photo. I can't tell if the dial is small?

Perhaps not too small, maybe just an artefact caused by the edges of the crystal.

Dial fonts look okay for an OCC 1016 but would need to make sure that the fonts are recessed. Dial doesn't look too small but part of the edge looks to be chipping. Hands are replaced and relumed, hard to tell about the dial lume - seems okay but can't say for sure and would need to see how it reacts to UV and a geiger. These were only made in a few small batches though - would need to fit the correct OCC SN range as well.
