If this 1680 was yours: What would you say was a reasonable asking price in USD?

- 3.2-serial, mk IV
- Even patina and no cracks in it - even the pip
- 9315 folded bracelet with "Pateted" typo - and 2 extra original bracelet links to extend it if needed by potential new owner (one link is wide and one link is narrower to add flexibility)

Reason for asking is simply to get reference points since I contemplate selling it - since I don't have the passion towards vintage as I used to have. Hence, would appreciate your genuine views. On the other side, I might regret selling it since I bought it due to it's well condition and kept it for almost 3 years enjoying it and wearing it. Aargh - the craving for precious metal is strong.

Don't sell that beauty! I'm sure you will be getting multiple PMs for the watch, but stay strong and don't sell that beauty! Regret will be you constant partner if you sell that beauty!

There, I've done my good deed for the day.

Gorgeous watch!! I'd be proud to own that. If it was me, I'd keep it for sure.

Best bet is to keep an eye on sales boards & perhaps watchrecon.com

As others have said - need to be very sure you want to part with that beauty before putting up for sale

If you sell it you'll make someone a very happy buyer but I'm sure you'll end up regretting it.

Wow, that's a tough one to let go of... Think of it this way, if you ever change your mind and choose to rebuy, you'll shell out precious metal money for something that is likely not as good as this

You'll sell it get the PM and wish you still had it...guarantee it...not that red subs are super rare but... a hell of a lot more rare than a PM Rolex and as you already know a red in that condition would be even harder to come by ...at least not without paying up for it which I don't know what you paid for that beaut but I'm pretty sure they've gone up a bit in the last 3 years ...don't sell it man!!!

Thanks for your opinions. I know I will regret this - but this time I'm just sourcing the price of regretting. :)

I think that estimate was what you were looking for. Bezel looks right. Hands look right. Condition is really nice. Looks like it has either not been touched or touched a polishing wheel very little. I am a case guy and i like nice cases. If you sell, send me a pm. Thanks. just an fyi....i would think long and hard before you sell. However, if you are not enjoying it then let someone else have a go. Same advice my wife gave me regarding a Porsche i was not driving.

Private sale would be $11-12k, especially if you're not in the business of selling watches.
Incredible piece by the way. I'd like to see a normal closeup of case in natural light.

This. Major US dealers are now asking 13 - 14K for a decent MK IV. Private sale a couple of grand less.

Definitely worth considering holding on to. Examples such as yours are becoming fewer and far between!

This is far from a "decent" MK IV...so no, selling at 11k would be foolish. This is easily a 13-14k watch in a private sale. Look at the lugs...look at the dial...look at the patina...even the crystal is original or an NOS replacement (have you priced these lately?). Where have you seen a watch this nice sell for less? Private or dealer it doesn't matter. Honestly at 13k-14k its a bargain.

If that watch is worth less than 14k then the bubble must be near.

Bought mine - in almost identical condition to this one - a year and a half ago for a few grand less than 14. Pleased that it may have gone up this much in value.

Pateted

I'm a bit of a vintage novice and am fascinated by the engraving 'PATETED'
Shouldn't this be spelt 'PATENTED'?

Gorgeous watch! I think you could do better here in Scandinavia. A local friend here in Sweden recently sold a similar (or slightly less sharp) piece for 15k. As perfect examples doesn´t come along too often I think 15 or even a bit more is doable. Might not sell on the spot but it really wouldn´t take too long to find someone looking for a stunning red sub.

Best of luck regardless if you sell it or keep it.

I cannot condone this thread in any way. Moderators please shut this down till we talk some sense into the OP:

I would never sell it, but I suppose that's what makes this hobby so great, there are always buyers and sellers ...
