Just like the 5976, I cannot get this one out of my mind. Totally a perfect package!

What do you think about this watch

I had the pleasure of trying this piece on and I have to say I’m highly impressed, perfectly balanced looks gorgeous, weight is perfect.

I love the watch...wish it was a bit less pricey (who doesn’t), but it’s really beautiful in my opinion. I’m rationalizing the price in my mind in this way...I can sell my 5711 for nearly $25k more than I paid, which if deducted from the 5740g sticker price makes it more reasonable

So in my book the only way you really cant like it is if you only like the simple dial 5711. If you also like those other two Nautilus then i just don't see how this isnt the best of all three.
I'm still living in the past on this one and hoping price falls to around £60K in time... then I'm very interested... but doesn't look like demand will be under.

Gorgeous. If I didn’t have a 3712, I would get it.

So i agree with you, i do think that this nautilus is a bit forced.
I would, without a doubt, choose the Royal Oak 26579CE, all black ceramic royal oak perpetual anyday

Agreed. Saw the RO PC blue dial at Selfridges - it's nice but did nothing for me. Too busy. I still dream about the 5740G after seeing it at the Salon.

But somehow the AP works in ceramic...

I like it, but it’s not 5980 love.
A bit too busy for a small dial IMO.

The only thing this watch has done is make me want an AP PC more.

So would everyone on the planet The AP sells for retail of 94K and on Grey market over 140K. Not a fair comparison as AP can’t give away their PM and SS Perpetuals and they are deeply discounted.

The 5740G is an amazing piece and the only watch in the Nautilus line that I would get over the 5711 blue dial. The 5740 is svelt, a grand complication, white gold, and has a symmetric layout on the dial. If I could only have one watch, I would definitely choose the 5740G.

my math is similar. It is a combination of what i like about both 5711 and 5712 so selling both to get one makes it not as hard to swallow. Its still a hypothetical at this point but both my 11 and 12 were retail price purchases.

Well the 5740G retails for 105,000 CHF, which is pretty much the same as the MSRP of the AP. Scarcity wise AP probably will win, but pound for pound retail price wise, its not that unfair a comparison.

i know and its not on purpose either. 5164 and 5524 in particular are more of a dial preference over the 5167 and 5522. Its a great feature, but its more of a bonus and not really the motivation.

You mean at the Boutiques that will make you buy at least 3 watches before putting you on a list for the ceramic PC

there was an article in the telegraph with AP's head of product development and they stated AP made only 50. So i dont think there is a "list"

if you are paying £91k for a watch i really doubt service costs are anywhere near the top of the list of concerns.

Onmyhand has a 5711p, which is the same color as 5976g, and he has an incoming 5740G. So he will be able to confirm if they are the same shade of blue very shortly

They are the same shade - Karl wore his 5711P to Basel.
He has a 5740 arriving in July.

The only production numbers I had seen before was here from SIHH, 100 a year.

https://www.watchcollectinglifestyle...ctures-pricing

There are a disproportionate number of these out there grey for a limited production run of only 50.

Either way a lot more limited than 5740.
