LOVE this one! Beautiful! My favorite Calatrava! Very nice! So much detail to this one. Thanks! Not mine but I’m tempted!

In my opinion, the 5196 r is austere, complicated, simple, legible, dressy, casual, all at the same time.

Based on the Piaget ultra-thin movement, Patek's 3820 a true thing of beauty imho. She's the very last Patek still 'standing' here and only wear this for tux events that are not music-industry related (where the Everorse DD40 is more appropriate). If you're going dress, the vintage models are the way to go imho.
Great info at this link about this reference, though his has the more stylized numbers than the one here (as pictured below). https://www.watchcollectinglifestyle...ches-out-there

Any other dress Patek owners besides me?
Wrestled with this choice for a long time but recently pulled the trigger and couldn’t be happier with my 5227r. I think that it retains the Calatrava DNA while offering such sensuous curves, plus that case back ... |

No wrestling required. This is a grail piece without question. It’s unquestionably one of the most beautiful watches ever made. Ever. By any manufacturer. The hunter case back caps off a breathtaking watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hi SB, not so. My problem is that I’m a one watch person—a 1968 1675 GMT Master—and have been for the longest time despite my love of watches. I’ve long coveted second, third, and fourth watches. I think I can see myself going to a second and third, but as I’ll use them very regularly, they need tool functionality. I can see a 5227 easily for work. I’m also eyeing a Reverso Tribute Calendar, or a 5167 or 5164. It’ll be skittle while before I add number two and three, but I can see it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wow! The GMT sounds very special. I think it’s hard for people like us to have just one but if one was going to, a cool vintage Rolex tool watch would do the trick. Enjoy the hunt! |

Trust me, its hard having just one! I've been interested in watches since I was young. I had a Reverso for the longest time, and then switched to a vintage GMT as I've always wanted one and they are getting more difficult and more expensive--well, expensive is relative to PP buyers. A 5164 would get you an incredible Rolex vintage. Still, yes the hunt is on. I really do like the 5164 and 5167, and it seems as if both are very difficult to get, especially the 5167. One needs years and luck! Best, TA |

Just joined the club! The market doesn’t know what they are missing out on with dress watches. Another level!
