No one prefers rust! Name one person who prefers rust.
What are you even on about?
And as for people who choose to “remain ingonorant, of WHAT? That you fabricated some nonsense about a section of watch collectors who prefer their pieces to be rusted?? Do you just make this stuff up?

Light corrosion on hands this age is exceedingly common, and not a big deal.
Watch looks nice.

Oh, now I get it. You’re “that” guy.
My advice is to just wait your turn. There’s plenty more ahead of you, some still here, some gone by the wayside (Speedolex, Luke Rottman, etc). In the meantime, have a great rest of the weekend.

Stainless steel stains less easily than other iron-based metals, but it’s not literally “stainless”. Just like standard steel, stainless can get marked up by fingerprints and grease, develop discoloration, and eventually rust. The difference is resilience. Stainless steel can withstand much more time and abuse before showing signs of wear.

All steels have the same basic iron and carbon composition, but stainless steel also contains a healthy dose of chromium—the alloy that gives stainless steel its famous corrosion resistance.
Russia has shipped ROLEX stainless 904 and I was a recipient of a mid casing that had "rust" and it was quickly replaced at no charge with a service case~

So, um yeah, "rust happens" in a variety of flavors !

Thanks,
Randy

Thank you so much, nice picture link.
Solution from what I am reading is more chromium mix.Make corrosion resistent.and makes people allergic to it.
So is not as simple as it looks.
Years ago thought stainless steel = no stain or rust, many elements can rust stainless.thanks.

Yes, SS can rust. Not relevant to the OP. But yes.

I'm always on the look out for a nice 1655 and saw this one at Jaceks place

https://www.hqmilton.com/timepieces/...-ii-1655-A1036

it had some weird staining on the case... but what's all this got to do with the original question???

This thread is weird, like everyone suddenly started talking in code
