Kermit bezel--what happens during Rolex service?
Curious whether (1) they let you keep the old bezel and (2) given all the color variations, which color green do you get back if they replace the bezel.

1 - No, if the insert is replaced then they will keep your old one. The only way around this is to remove yours before sending in and accepting the outright charge for a new one. Last I checked it was up around $350 through both RSC NYC and Dallas. The price increase was supposedly due to an attempt by RUSA to mitigate spare parts floating around.
2 - Typically, from what I've seen anyway, most replacements have been the darker green found on later serials. If you have a flat four insert then it will typically be replaced with a pointed four if a replacement is agreed to and accepted by the customer. Keep in mind the above applies only to the US and not other countries. |

As you were asked before and failed to answer - why do you have two account names here on the forum?

There's no rule that you have to have your insert replaced during an RSC service. If you like the one on your LV and they recommend changing the insert for whatever reason, just decline the recommendation. And they don't let you keep the old one if you have them replace it. (Search online. I bet you could find the color differences, although photos are not always an accurate representation of exact color/tone.)
As for price ... I recently had the RSC in New York install a new Pepsi insert on my GMT 16700, which was missing its insert. (I had removed the faded original.) I was charged about $80 for the new one. Yes, only about $80. Not sure why you see replacements listed online for hundreds of dollars when Rolex itself charges much less for a brand new one. Maybe the LV insert is more, but I'd be surprised if it's as high as $350. |

The LV's are definitely more expensive than all the other bezel inserts for submariners or GMT's. Same bezel insert, same size, same material, same manufacturing process, the ONLY difference is the color.
