My first Rolex / advice needed

Hello all,

I just registered here. I am amateur collector, collecting for 2 years. I am 35yo, I have modest collection of 20 watches. And never had Rolex, so this is why I am here today.

I am about to sell for the first time two of my watches to a fellow collector from US. Just decided to do so, because I never wear them. Anyway, I am selling it to a nice older guy, public figure, he has my complete trust.

We chatted over the phone as I told him I am open to trade as well. The only watch that got my attention was this Rolex ref 5500. Until I saw it, I was never aware of the story of the watch. I never had Rolex, I always liked Explorer, didnt know there was also 34mm model. I read a lot about it here on forum threads I googled or was referred to in other forums. From what I learnt, it is one of the top candidates for faking. From obvious reasons.

I spent studying ref 5500 for few nights. But now I would really appreciate your honest opinion. I would like to go for gilt dial, but this on is not the case. Would you consider anyway? thanks for opinion.
