Watch Away to LA / What Insert?

So tomorrow I will be sending my GMT to LA to be serviced. I am excited, but not at the 12 week turnaround time, that's for sure. I will be having them take it apart, give it a bath, lube, replacements, but no touching of the dial or hands of course. I will have them switch out the Insert ( Which one? ). I am kind of excited and scared at the same time. Please help me choose which insert. Maybe the Booberry?

12 weeks?! Who are you sending it to?

I usually prefer the blueberry but, i’m not sure it works on this with the TT bracelet.

Insert on GMTs and subs are very easy to put on. I wouldn't want to send the best insert with the watch for service. Send it in with whatever is on the watch right now.

How do you do it? I would like to do it myself.

Number five looks the best to me. I would also consider a root beer insert which is what Rolex will tell you is correct for the watch.

Some inserts can be easy and some can be an absolute bitch to install. If your sending it anyway you can always try it yourself and leave it to the experts if your not successful.

Send it with no insert and get another brand new one to add to the collection.

Didn’t you make all those pictures by changing the bezel yourself?

If not, there are several threads on how to do an insert swap with simple paper tape (for protection) and a butter knife or simple tool.

No Paul, I didn't change them myself. I just put them on top of the permanent bezel to showcase. I think I am going to choose the AandW Rootbeer. I also want my Date Disc changed and a service. So I figure why not swap the bezel.

1 month down hopefully 2 more months or less.
I am almost contemplating buying another.
I should just buy cheap watch to wear. I keep finding myself even after a month going to my arm for time lol.

I wore it like that for a bit, just wanted to switch it up a bit. This is why I love the GMT. The options are somewhat endless.

Hi there. It will be 2 months come February 7. I still haven’t heard anything back from them in regards to my watch other than the turnaround time they quoted me, 10 to 12 week turnaround. I am kind of freaking out. Worried a bit I guess. I’m sure everything is fine. Maybe it is me. I just would of thought by 2 months in I would have macro shots or something by now.

I wanted them to work on a watch for me, and I couldn't even get them to respond to an email in December. Finally gave up and found someone else.

I emailed them Saturday and didn’t get a response today. I guess my next bet is making a phone call.

Just spoke to Beau. I am happy to report that I am crazy and my watch has 2 more ahead of it to be serviced before mine. They should be able to stay within the time frame they quoted me. Beau was very understanding and assuring that I will get my baby back soon. He said Edvi should be shooting me some macros very soon.

I just sent my 18038 to Jewelers on Time in Newport Beach where Vanessa used to work. Since she has left my watches have gone to Gareth there. He is also CW21 certified, they have a Rolex account and he is very conscious about vintage pieces. He quoted me 2 weeks for just a service without case polishing or if no extraordinary parts have to be ordered that they dont already have in stock.

Looking forward to seeing the results. I have seen amazing results from them on this forum...perhaps it is Christmas in February
