Regulator? What you guys think?

Saw it on someones wrist the other day. Had been offered it a few weeks ago and passed... but when i saw it on someones wrist it made me curious. I cant tell if i like it or not.

Is this going to be a collectors item or not really?
Does anyone know how many pieces were made etc.

It’s an awesome watch - the first regulator wrist watch made by PP in an distinctively Bauhaus design.

Not sure what’s going on with production numbers and demand but prices are weak at the moment.

If it is discontinued soon I can see it becoming collectible over the long term.
If you can get one at s good price snap it up!

You think this is something i can ask for a discount? I dont like buying 25-30% above mkt value.

I saw it twice yesterday, it’s growing on me.

I really like it and have been considering one as well. Consider pre-owned

I think being a collectors item or not depends on the total number of pieces produced.

What I can say is it is a unique patek reference with the 260 movement and all those advanced research technology putting into a watch (while the formal advanced research reference though being limited production only has one of technology in each reference)

Besides, the brushed metallic dial, regulator layout and old style bridges of the movement are all lovely features.

Disclaimer: I have one 5235G myself.

Best,
Henry

Saw one at an AD the other day.

Beautiful piece and I would like to own it but I have a problem putting that much money into a single watch.

Love mine

Get it if it sings to you. A lot of collectors look at the secondary value of this watch and it's a no go for them but end of the day, if it sings to you go for it at the right price. My two cents.

I have one and love it. It's definitely not suited to be your only watch but if you have the freedom to own multiple watches...this thing is stellar.

It's really unique and beautiful.

Patek introduced the 5235G in 2011, however they stopped production of the 5235G couple of times during the last 8 years. Caliber 31-260 is only found in the 5235G.

5235G is not a rare watch and it is easy to obtain one from an AD with a good discount, especially if they have it in stock.

If I remember correctly after it was announced there were no deliveries until about 2013/2014

Production virtually ceased in 2013/2014 and they started arriving at ADs again in 2015. Inventory was still very limited for most of 2015 and 2016 as ADs were trying to fulfill backorders. Sometime in 2017, supply exceeded demand and the secondary market price dropped.

I've owned one since 2015 and it is definitely a keeper in my collection.

Initial deliveries were delayed due to issues with the dial then production ceased as mentioned above in 2014.

I saw this and find it a very interesting watch. Colour variation on the dial is very cool. So is the engraved Patek logo.

I posted a similar thread last week. I agree that this is one you buy if you like. I would not be focussed on value retention.

But I’m not into it.

Haven’t seen in person tho.

I don’t like regulators honestly. Hard to read at a glance for me, maybe not for others though.

I think I like it more for the movement and concept rather than the looks. Could have done way better on the design imho. They are trading in the low 30s

I have the same issue. Was in Munich recently and tried it on because my wife really liked it, but was hard for me to read.

Rather plain in the back, don’t you think? So many sub-plates for all the machinations going on inside leaves me ...um, meh...
